BMW 8 Series summary

In 2018, BMW debuted the 8-Series Coupe during the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 8 Series Coupe, 8 Series Convertible, 8 Series Gran Coupe, and M8 are the four variations now available in international markets.

The BMW 8 Series is the natural successor to the BMW 6 Series, and it is built in BMW's facility in Dingolfing, Germany. BMW is manufacturing the 8 Series using lightweight components, which includes a combination of materials such as carbon fibre, steel, aluminium and plastic, in the model's body shell.

In May 2020, the 8 Series was released in India. The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe is the company's top-of-the-line four-door coupe. This Gran Coupe allows you to travel long distances in luxury, speed, and comfort. The 840i is available in India and is powered by a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 340 hp. Along with the Gran Coupe, India also gets the full-fledged M8 Competition, the 8 Series Coupe's sportiest variant. It has a 675 hp 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine.

If you're looking for a four-door coupé, the 2022 BMW 8-series checks a lot of boxes. Sure, the front and back centre consoles are a little too wide, and the back seat comfort isn't great, but it has a powerful and willing engine, as well as a luxury interior. Furthermore, it drives like a fun-to-drive rear-wheel-drive coupe while you're behind the wheel.

The BMW 8 Series is powered by a 3.0 litre (2993 cc) straight-six petrol engine with 340 hp and 450 Nm.

The 8 Series is offered only in petrol fuel type.

The 3.0 litre engine on the 8 Series comes mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

The 8 Series Gran Coupe is a premium grand tourer or four-door GT with a low-slung sports car front, long, 'fast'-flowing top, and muscular shoulders. Stunning low-slung aesthetics, luxury, space comfort, and, of course, exhilarating performance are all on the list of must-haves. Yes, practicality is not the strongest aspect of the 8 series, but if luxury and a thrilling driving experience are what you are eyeing, the 8 Series will offer you plenty of satisfaction.

The BMW 8 Series comes in two petrol variants, namely, 840i Gran Coupe and 840i M Sport Edition. It has six attractive colour options - blue, alpine white, mineral white, bluestone metallic, black sapphire, and sunset orange.

Top features on the BMW 8 Series include adaptive LED headlights, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3 inch BMW Live Cockpit, panoramic glass roof, heads up display, hands-free parking, BMW Intelligent Assistant, and gesture control. BMW 8 Series EXPERT REVIEWS

The BMW 8 Series is a legendary nameplate that combines appealing appearance and performance with the practicality of a Gran Coupe. The 8 Series Gran Coupe is a sumptuous grand tourer with its low-slung appearance and tight-fitting roof. When you get inside the 840i, you'll notice the low-set sportscar driving position right away. The low ceiling and small windows give it a 'cockpit' vibe. From the thick carpets to the magnificent touches of aluminium blended with soft, supple leather, the materials utilised throughout the cabin are of the highest quality. The four individual sport seats offer plenty of side bolstering. Miles munching becomes a joke with its creamy inline-six cylinder petrol engine.

The 8 Series' driving experience could be summed up in one word: superb, and here's why. To begin with, the 3.0-litre, 340-hp six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is smooth and refined. It is a bit hesitant at low speeds but smooths out as the revs build up and then races up to its 7,000 rpm redline when you really put your foot down. BMW claims a 5.2-second time from zero to 100 kilometres per hour. For a car of this length, BMW's Integral Active rear-wheel Steering aids agility by effectively decreasing the wheelbase. The vehicle feels perfectly balanced in corners, despite its 1,800 kg kerb weight. The steering is pleasant, direct, and responsive. Ride quality is fairly supple, especially when dialled in the comfort mode; it handles the bumps impressively. It, however, crashes through some of the larger potholes.

The 2022 BMW 8-series ticks many boxes if you're seeking a four-door coupé. Sure, the front and back centre consoles may be a little too big, and the rear seat comfort isn't fantastic. However, it boasts a powerful and willing engine and a luxurious interior. Moreover, when you are behind the wheel, it behaves like a fun-to-drive rear-wheel-drive coupe.
