BMW X5 summary

The fourth-generation X5 (Codenamed G05) was introduced in the country on May 16, 2019. The X5 is BMW’s large luxury SUV. It also carries the reputation for taking the word "sport" in Sport Utility Vehicle very literally.

The X5 hits the sweet spot between the enormous X5 and the smaller X3. The X5 is available with two straight-six engine options in India - a 3.0-liter diesel and an enthusiastic petrol engine. It's important to note that, unlike the foreign markets, the X5 is offered only in the five-seater format, and doesn't get the option of a seven.

The BMW X5 is offered with a 3.0 liter (2998 cc) straight-six diesel engine with 261.50 bhp and 620 Nm, and a 3.0 liter (2993 cc) straight-six petrol engine with 335.20 bhp and 450 Nm.

The X5 is offered in both petrol and diesel fuel types.

All the engines on the X5 come mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

BMW X5 PRO’s & CON’s

  • Things We Like
  • Things we don’t like

The X5 is the ideal combination of athleticism and opulence.

The X5 looks highly elegant on the outside.

Upscale cabin, the quality of materials used is top-notch, in line with the car's price tag. Loads of creature comfort features are available as well.

The large, well-cushioned seats are highly comfortable, and the motorized recline and fore/aft movement controls make it simple to achieve the perfect seating position; there's also plenty of legroom.

The new X5 took a quantum leap over the previous model in terms of cabin ambience. It won't be an overstatement to say this top-of-the-line X5 trim is approaching 7 Series levels of luxury.

All the engines on the X5 offer a lot of oomph.

Great body control and sorted dynamics for such a high riding SUV—only a few luxury UVs of this size feel as sporty as the X5.

Air suspension models provide a soft ride at low speeds, and you can always alter the settings to your taste. The ride height is also adjustable, which is convenient.

The fourth-generation BMW X5 is a flexible mid-size luxury SUV that combines a well-appointed cabin with a joyful driving experience in one attractive package. The X5's tight skinning, sharp headlamps, and, of course, that huge, single-piece grille combine to distinguish it from other vehicles in the family. You can see the best of BMW on the inside. The cabin is tastefully decorated, the front seats are really comfortable, and the drivers will like the view out the windscreen. There's plenty of room in the back, but the non-adjustable backrest is a little too upright for some. There is plenty of luggage room. Not to mention the creamy inline-six-cylinder engines that make driving a piece of cake. All models are generously equipped with state-of-the-art technology and convenience amenities. Although the 2018 BMW X5 isn't quite as quick in the corners as previous versions, few SUVs of this size feel this dynamic.

When compared to other luxury SUVs in the same price point, the X5 stands above the rest with its sheer blend of comfort and performance. The overall ambience and comfort of the cabin is at par with the rivals, and a 0-100 kph time of 6.55 sec for a diesel engine, especially for a heavy SUV like the X5, is absolutely amazing.

BMW SUVs have a reputation for taking the word "sport" in Sport Utility Vehicle very literally. The X5 30d, which is powered by a 265 hp 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine, is the range's workhorse. The diesel engine has a lot of power and torque, so much so that the 2-tonne X5 will surprise you with how quick it is. You'll appreciate the straight-six diesel engine and its slick 8-speed automatic gearbox, whether you're tearing up a mountain route or weaving through traffic. It has plenty of hauling power to make up for the X5's body mass. Furthermore, engine smoothness is excellent. The X5 40i, with its 340 horsepower 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine, is sure to please petrolheads. Air suspension models provide a soft ride at low speeds, and you can always alter the settings to your taste. The X5s fuel efficiency ranges from 11.24 to 13.38 kmpl.

In more ways than one, the BMW X5 is a significant vehicle. The X5 is an ideal vehicle if you are looking for a large family SUV with a premium cabin, fun-to-drive engines, and Bavarian heritage. The BMW is a pleasant place to spend time, with quality materials and numerous creature comforts.
