Honda Accord summary

Since its founding, Honda has offered several different body styles and versions of the Accord and often different regions have significantly different cars sold simultaneously with the Accord badge. It debuted in 1976 as a compact hatchback, but the style lasted only until 1989 as the lineup expanded to include sedans, coupes, and station wagons.

The lineup began with a 192-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder, however, the favorite is the 252-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that sits atop the engine pyramid and springs with a 10-velocity computerized that shifts with a nearly seamless nature. Both engines are easy operators, however, the 2.0-liter gives a hurry of strength which could without problems spin the front tires in first gear.

A hybrid is also available and is powered by a four-cylinder gasoline engine and two electric motors.

From several features, there is a list of some notable features that Accord offers: Remote Engine Start, Push Button Engine Start, Intelligent Access System, Automatic 2-Zone Climate Control, Rear Air Conditioner, Steering Wheel Mount Control Audio, Hands For free phone, voice command, iMID information display, multi-information control switch.

The hybrid model is loaded with tons of active and passive safety technologies. There are power brakes, traction control, stability control, adaptive EPS, front and side airbags, multi-angle cameras, front and rear parking sensors, and ABS with active cornering.

A completely new addition is Honda's LaneWatch, a camera-based system that improves the driver's lateral visibility. Through the camera attached to the front passenger's mirror, the driver can check real-time traffic information or pedestrian information in the vehicle's blind spot on the infotainment screen.

Despite having a powerful engine, it’s impressively fuel-efficient too. The company claims a mileage of 23.1 kmpl which is the best in its segment.

In addition to comfort-focused features such as an audio system with Android Auto / Apple CarPlay, GPS, keyless entry, sliding roof, and electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats, Accord Hybrid has a variety of active and passive features. This luxury car can be bought at a whopping price of 38 lacs which goes up to 43 lacs.

The latest update for the 2022 Accord lineup is that it has undergone only a bit of transformation and is now available in a Sport trim level to replace the previous EX hybrid. The Accord Hybrid is Honda's first full-fledged premium product in India in recent years. It is also the brand's first attempt to provide a sustainable alternative to the German diesel brigade. That said, it mostly competes with the Toyota Camry Hybrid, which has been a lone ranger in the Indian market for quite some time. As we now know, Honda has invested heavily in hybrid technology.

The Accord can't claim to have made it to the top thanks to incredible acceleration or the performance of a sports car. That's not to say there's nothing wrong with the numbers: Even in its most streamlined LX trim, with a 1.5-liter turbocharged and continuously variable automatic transmission. The Accord can drive to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds; With the optional 252 hp 2.0-litre turbocharger, its 5.4 sec 60 mph time is fast enough to wipe out a sleeping BMW 3-Series.

The reason the Accord continues to win the top 10 titles (36 of them) is that it's the perfect tool for the job. It balances power, fuel economy, and handling in a way that sets it apart from the family sedan segment.

Packed with the most standard traffic-avoidance features include all Accord's important crash-avoidance technologies, including automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist.

At the end of the day, it boils down to pricing. In this respect, the Accord Hybrid has some disadvantages. The Camry Hybrid will be assembled in the field for around 380,000 rupees (on-road, Mumbai), while the Accord Hybrid will be brought to India as a fully imported unit. So be prepared to pay Camry a high premium of around INR 350,000.
