The much-awaited Mahindra XUV700 was finally launched in August 2021 in India. It has been launched in several variants with various gearbox options and engine options. The Mahindra XUV700 is available in diesel and petrol variants, with varying engine capacities. The various models of the XUV700 are XUV700 MX, XUV700 MX Diesel, XUV700 AX3, XUV700 AX5 and the yet to be launched XUV700 AX7. This vehicle also showcases the new Mahindra logo with twin peaks.

It is available in 5 colours - Everest White, Dazzling Silver, Electric Blue, Red Rage and Midnight black. The Mahindra XUV700 is also the launch vehicle for the AdrenoX technology, which has proved to be a game-changer for Mahindra. Thanks to this, Mahindra and Amazon have joined hands to deliver Alexa built-in functionality for hands-free access to entertainment, information and offline vehicle control. AdrenoX also brings an Immersive Audio Experience, adopting 3D Sound Technology through Sony’s first-ever in-car embedded infotainment system.

The Mahindra XUV700 features 10.25-inch dual screens with the widest display in the segment and SmartCore™ cockpit domain controller technology with 3rd Generation Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Automotive Cockpit Platforms developed in collaboration with Visteon. The XUV700 gets many technology-connected features such as a voice-controlled sunroof, AC control and more. It also has wireless charging and two-zone climate control.

The Mahindra XUV700 is priced from INR 14 lacs- INR 18 lacs (on-road, Delhi) depending on the model and variant. The Mahindra XUV700 has notched up the competition in its segment. Tata Harrier, MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos are the vehicles that it is against, and even though these are very popular in the market, the XUV700 seems geared to face the competition head-on.

  • Things we don’t like

The Mahindra XUV700 is priced at INR 12.5 Lacs (ex-showroom, Diesel), while the Hyundai Creta is priced at INR 17.8 Lacs. The Tata Harrier, another comparable car in the same segment, is priced at 14.39 Lacs and the MG Hector Plus is priced at 15.3 Lacs. So for starters, the Mahindra XUV700 definitely has the edge over its competitors when it comes to the price.

Also, the multiple variants give the consumer the option to choose a model as per their requirement.

It also has a fuel tank capacity of 60 litres, comparable to its closest competitors.

Its 197 bhp and 380 Nm of torque give it an edge over most other competition.

The XUV700 is overloaded with tech and other advanced features. The incorporation of the AdrenoX technology in the AX variants is an additional feather in its cap.

Also, this is the only XUV in this segment that gets flush-fitting door handles and its Advanced Driver Assistance System. It is also the only XUV in this segment to get driver knee airbags, active lane assist, and adaptive cruise control.

The Mahindra XUV700 does not have any ventilated seats (unlike the Hyundai Alcazar), which makes it a little uncomfortable for long drives.

Another disadvantage is that there are no sliding seats in the second row, which the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos have. This makes it impossible to utilize the space at the back.

The XUV700 also does not have auto-dimming IVRM and it needs to be manually adjusted.

The interiors of this Mahindra offering have a cheap plastic feel to them, which tends to subtract from the premium look of the car. The Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus look more premium because of their high-quality interiors.

Boot space is another drawback of the XUV700. There is barely any space in the boot unless the seats are folded.

The vehicle lacks height adjustment for front passenger seats and there are no blower controls or adjustable headrest for the second row.

The Mahindra XUV700 has received rave reviews from the consumers. According to the industry experts, in terms of looks, technology, safety and performance, the XUV700 delivers on all accounts. It is a strong, powerful car, which is a pleasure to drive and doesn’t feel heavy. The interiors are comfortable and roomy, except for the back row. In fact, the Mahindra XUV700 is more spacious than the Hyundai Alcazar.

In terms of features and the tech used, Mahindra has overtaken its competitors. It is the only SUV in its class to offer ADAS, seven airbags, and dual-zone climate control. It offers three driving modes- zip, zap and zoom. The seats are electronically adjustable and have a memory function, which makes it easier to get in and out. The XUV700 also has a driver drowsiness alert feature, a voice-activated sunroof and the multi-media-cum-driver information display.

The Mahindra XUV700 has been launched in a number of variants. Its price varies from INR 14-18 lacs (on-road, Delhi), depending on the variant you choose. This makes it the most affordable vehicle in its segment, considering the cascade of features it offers. The USP of this vehicle is its pricing and the fact that because of the variants, it has something for everyone. Its competitive pricing makes it a formidable competitor for other cars such as the Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, MG Hector Plus etc.
