The 3-door version of Maruti Jimny was not launched in India, disappointing many car enthusiasts. Therefore, the Japanese firm is introducing an upgraded version of the SUV Maruti Jimny in India to make amends. The long-wheelbase variant has already entered overseas markets. It will likely take over the Indian market by next year.

The three different variants in which Maruti Jimny will be available are-Base Trim-XG, Mid Level Trim-XL, Top-end Trim-XC. Let's now explore the various features that make the Maruti Jimny 5-door model unique from the 3-door model.

To be honest, there won't be much of a difference between the 3-door and 5-door Jimny. However, the Maruti Jimny 5-door model will most likely have a turbocharged mild-hybrid engine. It will have a longer wheelbase of 2,550 mm, whereas the three-door Jimny has a wheelbase of 2,250 mm. The increased wheelbase will make it easier for rear passengers to get in and out. The 5-door Jimny will be 3,850 mm long as opposed to the 3-door Jimny's 3,550 mm length. Also, the Jimny three-door weighs 1,090 kgs, whereas the Jimny five-door weighs 1,190 kgs.

There has been a delay in the launch of Maruti Jimny. However, there are high chances that it will be on the Indian roads by early to mid-2022. The expected price can range from Rs 10 lakh onwards. The rivals of Maruti Jimny can be the recently launched second-generation Mahindra Thar. It can also face off against the second-generation Force Gurkha.

Maruti Jimny PRO’s & CON’s

  • Things We Like
  • Things we don’t like

The Jimny is styled in a retro-modern manner. It is available in several attractive exterior colour choices, including dual-tone paint schemes.

When it comes to road presence, this new generation SUV has proved its importance. Despite its tiny size, the Suzuki Jimny's outstanding blend of vintage and rigid design elements gives it a fantastic and distinctive posture. It makes it visually stick out in a crowd.

Compared to earlier versions, the new Suzuki Jimny is driven by a modern 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is pretty strong for a vehicle of this size.

The Suzuki Jimny is one of the few off-road vehicles that are extremely easy to ride due to its tiny size. Aside from its high ground clearance, which allows it to go off-road, the Suzuki Jimny's light steering and short turning radius of 4.9m make it particularly simple to manoeuvre in city traffic.

The Suzuki Jimny's ladder frame chassis and low-ratio 4WD technology, as previously stated, should give a significant off-road performance.

One of the drawbacks of the Maruti Jimny is that it only has four seats, with minimal rear legroom.

When all seats are up, Jimny's boot capacity (85 litres) is significantly lower than the Tata Nano (110-litre).

Suzuki has gone to great efforts to make the new Jimny seem good from the outside. The new Jimny, on the other hand, keeps the in-cabin atmosphere simple. The dashboard and instrument console look to be outdated and basic.

It's reasonable to state that the Maruti Jimny is undeniably a tiny off-roader after driving it. The new Jimny comes across as capable, assured, and captivating. The retro-cool appearance of the Jimny adds to its charm.

The automobile, however, is deficient in several aspects, such as power and refinement. The gear shift is grating, and the driving and handling are floaty. You will not enjoy the unpolished interior, the undersized back seats, and a trunk that is too tiny to be functional. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be based on Suzuki's new generation structure, supporting the Baleno hatchback and the Ignis Compact crossover.

The Jimny is a boxy, old-school SUV with square lines, prominent wheel arches, and a high roofline in terms of outward appearance. It is also narrower than the Swift, with a width of 1645mm. The Maruti Jimny has a length of 3550 mm, a width of 1645 mm, and a wheelbase of 2250 mm. The Jimny has a ground clearance of 210mm with approach, departure, and break-over angles of 37, 49, and 28 degrees, respectively.

The majority of SUV buyers choose huge SUVs, but compact SUVs are better for off-roading. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny appears to have mediocre on-road characteristics, but the vehicle is suited for off-road capability. This car will catch your eye if you are an off-roading enthusiast.

Jimny's peak speed is estimated to be approximately 130-135 kmph, and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 13-14 seconds. This car is robust and can go a long distance on difficult roads non-stop. This makes Maruti Jimny ideal for adventurous people. This car is for people who consider seating comfort, features, and technology secondary. They prefer pure driving pleasure and off-roading capabilities.
