Maserati Gran Cabrio summary

The Grand Touring is unique in that it is at the core of every Maserati. The original idea was deceptively simple - fitting a sophisticated race car engine into a luxury, handcrafted sedan as part of the project. Combining these two worlds in a seamless manner was, of course, far from easy. Yet, with the A6 1500 GT Pininfarina in 1947 and the 3500GT prototype a few years later, Maserati created "The White Dame." Such power had never been packaged and supplied in such a beautiful way, allowing for all kinds of new long-distance possibilities.

· Maserati's GranTurismo and GranCabrio are a line of grand tourers made by the Italian automaker Maserati. They replaced the company's two-door V8 grand tourers, the Maserati Coupé and Spyder. The car's first engine was a 4.2-litre (4,244 cc (259.0 cu in)) V8 developed in collaboration with Ferrari.

· The 4.7-litre V8 engine, included in both the GranCabrio Sport and the GranCabrio MC, produces 460 horsepower, 520 Nm of torque, and revs to an astonishing 7,500 rpm. The GranCabrio Sport has a top speed of 288 km/h (179 mph), while the GranCabrio MC has a top speed of 291 km/h (181 mph).

· There are two engines available for the Maserati GranCabrio - one diesel and one petrol, with both engines carrying a displacement of 4691 ccs. It has an automatic transmission option.

Maserati Gran Cabrio PRO’s & CON’s

  • Things We Like
  • Things we don’t like

The GranCabrio currently has a 4.7-litre N.A. Ferrari V8 engine.

· The model is a swanky four-seater GT convertible with a Ferrari engine and gearbox and the kind of flair that only Italian sports cars can flaunt.

· The Maserati GranCabrio isn't the newest convertible, but it continues to entice with its stunning design and now-rare combination of naturally aspirated engine and hydraulic steering.

· Four people can comfortably enjoy open-top driving with the roof down.

· It boasts a new interior that has been upgraded, as well as new infotainment screens and functions.

· The GranCabrio's retractable soft top is the ultimate party trick.

It's reasonably spacious, but it's not really practical.

· Despite its strong V8, it lacks the performance that an Italian exotic should have.

· It's almost 12 years old, and it's beginning to show its age.

· Far superior Cabriolets are available at lower prices.

· The fabric roof isn't the fastest to draw.

· With the roof in place, there isn't much headroom in the backseat. There is also a restricted amount of boot space. There are highs and lows to driving a GranCabrio. The 460hp V8 engine isn't particularly powerful.

· The lack of a permanent roof prevents the vehicle from feeling as 'tight' as it should.

· The steering is heavy on city roads, and you must take additional care on speed breakers to avoid the bodywork colliding with the pavement.

Maserati Gran Cabrio EXPERT REVIEWS

One of the most elegant and coveted convertibles available is the Maserati GranCabrio. Few convertibles can actually compete with its adaptability, which combines truly great performance with enough capacity for four large persons. The GranCabrio, which is powered by a Ferrari-sourced 4.7-litre V8, accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in under 5.4 seconds and produces amazing engine noise. The GranCabrio is all about style, and its strong image should help it hold its value better than most other cars in this class, thanks to a roomy cabin and the storage space required for the roof. The steering is perfectly weighted, with enough feedback, and the car feels balanced and resists body lean through turns. Its performance is excellent despite the GranCabrio being a large car weighing 1,980 kg. The 434bhp 4.7-litre V8 engine sounds remarkable and accelerates to 62mph in under 5.4 seconds. The car's six-speed semi-automatic gearbox lets you choose between a completely automatic mode (for a stress-free drive) and manual shifts (if you want a more engaging experience). Safety-wise, the car is equipped with all the essential safety features. Though the brand isn't well-known in India, those who like performance, especially in an open-air setting, will not be disappointed by this vehicle.
