The Maserati Levante is comprehensively different from your typical squared-off SUV, and it retains its exotic allure. Starting with the exterior, every Trofeo model receives a more sporty look. All of the other cars have 21-inch wheels, but the Levante Trofeo has 22-inch alloys. The engine, though, is unquestionably the centrepiece of the Trofeo edition. It's a 573 bhp 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The Levante is offered with a choice of two motors, a petrol and a diesel unit. The 3.0-litre (2979 cc) twin-turbo V6 petrol motor is available in two different power outputs - 350 bhp and 500 Nm for the standard model, and 430 bhp and 580 Nm for the 430 range of models. Meanwhile, the 3.0-litre (2987 cc) turbocharged V6 diesel churns out 75 bhp and 600 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the top of the line Trofeo trim features a 3.8-litre (3799 ccs) twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 573bhp and 730Nm.

The Levante has signalled the start of a new season for Maserati, as it was the first time the storied trident badge has built an SUV. Maserati launched the Levante in India in 2018. And there's simply something about the Maserati Levante that shouts exclusivity in Italy. Maybe it's the SUV's sensuous styling or the grille's iconic trident logo. The Levante's monstrous powertrains, which emit intoxicating sounds through its exhaust pipes, are more than certainly to blame. The latest update includes the official announcement by Maserati. The new Levante GT Hybrid is now available for order in India. It will be equipped with a 330PS 2-litre turbo-petrol mild-hybrid engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV is expected to arrive in the country in the second quarter of 2022, according to the company.

The Levante's renown as a sumptuous, athletic, and unmistakably Italian SUV ensures that it will attract more attention than more conservatively styled competitors. The cabin of the Levante appears to be the pinnacle of opulence at first glance; it's packed with beautiful materials, including a one-of-a-kind leather-and-silk upholstery option from a fashion company Ermenegildo Zegna. However, a closer look exposes several pieces shared with standard FCA vehicles, which takes us away from the high-end illusion we anticipate from the trident-badged brand. It isn't the most spacious SUV, and its seats aren't the most comfortable, but the overall impression is of a lavish interior. The Levante is priced too high to be considered a good bargain. Nonetheless, it's a fantastic SUV in its class, with a leather-and-silk interior and Ferrari-derived powertrains that can induce automotive bliss, especially when the throttle is opened wide.
Maserati offers a variety of engine options for the Levante, so the driving experience is dependent on the one you choose. The basic 275hp 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine is powerful; it sounds fantastic, but power is delivered so seamlessly that the Levante appears to be slower than it is. The twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, on the other hand, is quick, the engine has an irresistible suppleness, and the growl from the quad pipes gets more intense the faster you spin the engine making you want to keep winding it harder and harder. The air suspension of the Levante has been fine-tuned, so it rides smoothly over bumps. It is, however, not as athletic as the Porsche Cayenne. Enthusiasts would prefer upgrading to the Ferrari built 573 bhp twin-turbo V8 engine, which surprisingly feels like a NA with its linear power delivery — a long and strong pull to the redline. Because of the lower and firmer air suspension, as well as better-tuned adjustable dampers, the Trofero seems more nimble and composed.
The Maserati Levante is an SUV that you buy with your heart rather than your head. It's distinct in appearance, comfy to sit in, and exudes an authentically unique vibe. The Ferrari-built twin-turbo V6 petrol engine is loud, melodic, and a lot of fun. And if you can get your hands on the full-fledged Trofeo trim, you're in for a treat. The Levante, on the other hand, isn't as well-equipped as its competitors, and it doesn't come close to undercutting them, especially at its price point.
