Mercedes-Benz CLA 2020 summary

The 2020 CLA is the follow-up to the base model debuted in 2013. The CLA was created with expressive style as an economical method to entice new buyers into the German luxury brand.

The CLA's next-generation technology can be found in almost every facet of the car, but it's most prominent in the realm of safe driving. The adaptive cruise control system, for example, not only provides a safe range from oncoming traffic but also adjusts the speed of the vehicle in response to impending curves and intersections.

Adaptive cruise also works in conjunction with Active Lane Change Assist to smoothly transition to the next lane when the driver requests it. Active Brake Assist anticipates slowing traffic ahead, while Active Steering Assist puts the car in its lane sans driver input through smooth turns.

The CLA sedan is driven by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine instead of the V8 or V12 engines. Although that may not sound like anything you'd see in your average luxury sedan, it has direct injection and a twin-scroll turbo, giving it 355bhp and the status of the world's most powerful four-cylinder engine. The '45' in its moniker refers to the 45.9kgm of torque it generates, which was previously only seen in full-fledged sportscars.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA also highlighted that it is suitable for long-distance travel, with a pleasant, peaceful interior that provides a welcome break from the outside environment. Despite being quiet, the inside didn't feel particularly insulated, thanks to the wide panoramic sunroof. Overall, the Mercedes-Benz CLA is a well-made sporty sedan that serves as a sleek alternative to the company's entry-level four-door A-Class.

The car comes in both petrol and diesel options, and the transmission is automatic.

Mercedes-Benz CLA 2020 LATEST UPDATES

The CLA Sedan is instantly recognisable: a smooth, beautiful line flows from the hood to the rear, providing an impression of fluid motion. The greenhouse has been moved further back on the car, and the lines have been streamlined. It's steady, powerful and growing in power.

Inside, the CLA features a futuristic dashboard with a wing shape that flows seamlessly from one side to the next. A standalone touchscreen media display indicates the vehicle's high regard for tech.

The latest MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) system is the most notable. With this tech, you can interact with your automobile using normal voice input, starting with "Hey Mercedes." The 2020 CLA, when combined with its cutting-edge Intelligent Drive algorithms, takes vehicle intelligence to greater levels.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is priced from 31.72 lakhs to 77.69 lakhs. The price of the petrol variant runs from 35.97 lakh to 77.69 lakh while the pricing Diesel version goes from 31.72 lakh to 36.97 lakh. CLA comes in eight diverse variations. The CLA-Class has indisputably sculpted contours that may put several FTV models to shame, and it also bears a striking similarity to its elder sibling.

There's also enough headroom, legroom and adjustable height support to provide a comfortable driving posture.

This powertrain is paired with a faster seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (with paddle shifters). On the move, the free-revving quality of this responsive engine at practically any speed immediately gets your attention.

Engineers have achieved the ideal balance by making the drive smooth and pleasant even when driven aggressively.

Inside the cabin, poor road sections can be felt and heard, but not to the point of making the passengers uncomfortable.

Despite the outstanding handling, the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission isn't as fluid as it could be. Upshifting does not always react as quickly as momentum suggests. Changing gears can cause a clumsier response.

The ride is a little noisier than many luxury buyers want, but that's to be expected in this class. Rough pavement, for example, will increase the amount of outside sound.

The Hey Mercedes virtual assistant is more reactive than it has to be. Even if you aren't speaking to it, it may respond. This might be irritating if it frequently occurs throughout a conversation.

The rear seat is cramped and uncomfortable.

The low-speed ride is stiff.

Mercedes-Benz CLA 2020 EXPERT REVIEWS

The dynamic dash with striking front seats, silver trim, turbine-style vents, clutter-free button layout, a huge infotainment screen and clutter-free button layout make the CLA's cabin appear fascinating. The flawless build quality, sensitive touch-points and sensual frameless doors add to the attractiveness.

Its performance is snappy right from the start and all the way up to the 6200rpm redline, and it clocks a 7.84sec sprint to 100kmph from a standstill. 20-80kmph and 40-100kmph sprints took 4.77sec and 5.50sec, respectively, demonstrating that the engine has always been in a lower gear to allow for faster response when the accelerator is nudged. In addition, by using the paddle shifters in any mode, one can take control and shift as needed.

With the C-Class going up the price scale, the CLA has got a sweet spot for those seeking an entry-level Mercedes-Benz saloon. The CLA isn't designed for folks who want to be ferried around, as the back half of the interior is cramped and has a limited vision. On the other hand, it has the looks, lively performance, luxury and sporty cabins, and the best front-seat comfort. If you don't care about the rear-seat comfort, the CLA offers enough personality to spice up your drive and lifestyle. Safety-wise, it comes with all the major safety features, so you are assured of having a safe and comfortable ride.

Mercedes-Benz CLA 2020 version is the car for you if you are looking for a powerful yet elegant car.
