The Mercedes GLA is the smallest SUV in the lineup. Along with the A-Class hatchback, the GLA Class is responsible for being the gateway for people to the Mercedes brand. The GLA-Class production model was presented at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, and it was based closely on the Concept GLA design.
With a drag coefficient of 0.29, Mercedes-Benz claimed the vehicle was the most aerodynamic in its class at the time of launch. The steering provides superb feedback, and the grip provided by the large tires and the all-wheel-drive system makes the GLA fun to drive on winding roads.
The space, on the whole, isn't that vast compared to its competitors; both legroom and headroom at the back are barely enough. Plus, the narrow window area adds to the claustrophobic feeling.

The 220d model's 2.1-liter diesel engine produces 170 horsepower and 350 Nm, and this engine has been the backbone of the Mercedes fleet, driving everything from the A- to the E-class, and it performs a respectable job on the GLA. The engine accelerates quickly and produces power at low rpm. A tiny power surge occurs about 1700rpm, after which the power delivery is consistent all the way to the redline. The disadvantage is the sound level, which is louder than you'd anticipate from a car costing more than Rs 30 lakh. At low revs, the sound is pretty noticeable, but the engine becomes quite noisy as the speed increases. Because the GLA features a stiff suspension setup, it has a rough ride at town speeds, especially when traveling over bad roads or bumps. Nonetheless, as the pace increases, the ride improves considerably. But it's in the corners where this setup flourishes, and that's where the GLA shines.
The GLA might not be the most SUV-looking or most performance-oriented SUV on the market. It does, however, provide a sleek vehicle that can do some light off-roading and is well-equipped. It will also appeal to individuals who want to stand out from the crowd of SUVs.
