Toyota India has updated the Rumion with a much-needed safety upgrade—6 airbags are now standard across all variants. What makes this even more interesting is the timing. The update comes right as the new GST rates kicked in on September 22. So instead of the price going up with the added safety kit, it’s actually gone down thanks to the revised tax structure.
All three Toyota Rumion trims—S, G, and V—now come with six airbags as standard. On top of that, the V trim also gets a tyre pressure monitoring system, adding a bit more to its safety list.
Additionally, the Toyota Rumion also comes standard with ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, engine immobiliser, ESP, hill hold control, ISOFIX mounts, front seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters, seatbelt reminders with buzzers for all seats, high-speed alert, speed-sensitive auto door locks, rear parking sensors, central locking, and security alarm.
Toyota has cut Rumion prices following the GST reform. The S Petrol MT is cheaper by Rs 37,300, while the Petrol AT and CNG MT see reductions of Rs 42,500 and Rs 40,600. The G trim drops by up to Rs 46,200, and the V trim by Rs 48,700. Prices now range from Rs 10.44 lakh to Rs 13.61 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Toyota Rumion continues to come with a 103PS 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that can be had with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter along with the CNG fuel option as well.
The Toyota Rumion mileage is claimed to be 20.51 km/l with the manual gearbox, while the Rumion AT mileage is slightly lower at 20.11 km/l. On the other hand, the Toyota Rumion CNG mileage is higher, with a claimed efficiency of 26.11 km/kg.
