Nissan’s all-new SUV, positioned to rival the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, has been spotted for the first time on Indian roads. Based on the new-gen Renault Duster, the SUV features a boxy design, LED headlights, large grille, roof rails, and connected LED tail lamps—suggesting a bold, upright stance.
While Nissan hasn’t confirmed the name, speculation suggests the SUV might reincarnate the Terrano badge or adopt an entirely new identity. Like the Duster-Terrano duo of the past, this model will share underpinnings with Renault's version.
To compete in the premium midsize SUV segment, the new Nissan is expected to offer a panoramic sunroof, ADAS, 360° camera, large touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster, ventilated and powered seats, and six airbags, among other creature comforts.
Nissan has ruled out diesel engines for its India lineup. Instead, the model is likely to be offered with petrol and strong hybrid options, aligning with tightening emission norms and the brand’s future focus on electrified powertrains in India.
The five-seater Nissan SUV is expected to launch in mid-2026, while a larger, proper 7-seater SUV will follow in 2027. Both models will share their base with Renault’s upcoming SUVs and will play a key role in Nissan’s product revival strategy for India.
