Most people who buy expensive SUVs with 4x4 hardware never take it off the road, but that does not mean that these machines can’t do all the hardcore stuff that you see in movies or on social media. Here’s a list of the top 5 most expensive 4WD SUVs in India.

Range Rover

At the top of the pyramid sits the Range Rover, which has often been seen as the benchmark for luxury SUVs. It continues to impress with its current generation, with prices ranging from Rs 2.47 crore to Rs 4.99 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the limited-edition Range Rover SV Masara Edition.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Next-in-line Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which doesn’t really need an introduction. It is available in two trims at present — AMG G 63 and G 580 with EQ technology, with prices ranging from Rs 3.10 crore to Rs 3.75 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) before options.

Lexus LX 500d

Based on the proven Toyota Land Cruiser, the Lexus LX is India’s third most expensive 4x4 SUV, with prices ranging from Rs 3 crore to Rs 3.12 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). It comes powered by a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine that puts out 304PS of peak power and 700Nm of maximum torque.

Land Rover Defender

With its top-of-the-line variant starting at a price of Rs 2.79 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Land Rover Defender is the fourth most expensive SUV with 4x4 in India. It comes in a variety of configurations — 90, 110, 130 — and multiple powertrain options, with prices starting from Rs 1.05 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Toyota Land Cruiser LC300

The torch-bearer of reliability when it comes to 4x4 SUVs, the Land Cruiser LC300 demands a price of Rs 2.31 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the ZX trim, and Rs 2.41 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the GR-Sport trim. It comes powered by the same diesel engine that is seen on the Lexus LX 500d.
