VW India has put out a voluntary recall of a total of 961 units of the Virtus and Taigun models over potentially faulty seatbelt components.
Volkswagen cites a potentially cracked metal base frame of the rear seatbelts, and an incorrect part installation in the front and/or rear seatbelts. This raises a serious concern and could prove to be dangerous in the case of an accident.
The units affected involve models manufactured between December 1, 2021, and May 31, 2025.
This isn’t the carmaker’s first recall due to faulty seatbelts. Volkswagen recalled 21,513 units of the same models back in May 2025.
Sister-brand Skoda has also recalled units of the Kylaq, Slavia and Kushaq manufactured in the same time period. The Virtus-Slavia and Taigun-Kushaq are fundamentally the same cars.
You can check out if your car’s affected by entering your car’s VIN number on Volkswagen India’s official website. You can also reach out to your nearest dealership. VW should soon be contacting affected owners and offer appropriate remedies. This would be at no cost to the owners.
