Honda Cars India is preparing to launch the Civic Type R in an effort to refresh its current lineup. While an official launch date hasn't been confirmed, sources suggest that the high-performance model could arrive in the coming years.
The Civic Type R stands out from the standard model with a more aggressive and sporty design. It features a large radiator grille with the iconic Type R badge, larger air intakes, brake cooling ducts and a large rear spoiler.
Inside, the Civic Type R boasts a bold and performance-oriented layout. The all-black dashboard is complemented by striking red sport seats and red Honda badging. Features include a digital instrument cluster and a floating touchscreen infotainment system.
Under the hood, the Civic Type R packs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 325PS of power and 420Nm of torque. Mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the power is sent to the front wheels. The car can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.4 seconds.
Globally recognized for its performance, the Civic Type R holds the record for the fastest front-wheel-drive lap time around the Nürburgring. With its entry into India, it is set to rival other hot hatches like the newly launched Volkswagen Golf GTI.
