Despite earlier ruling out a hybrid for the Elevate, Honda is now reportedly developing a hybrid version of the Elevate SUV to counter declining sales and regain market share in India’s growing hybrid segment.
The Elevate hybrid is expected to borrow the City e:HEV’s strong hybrid setup, which includes a 1.5-litre petrol engine, dual electric motors, and a Li-ion battery pack. The system delivers 126PS and 253Nm, paired with an e-CVT transmission, and is known for delivering a fuel efficiency of 27.26kmpl.
Once launched, the Elevate hybrid will compete with Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which currently dominate the affordable hybrid SUV space. The move aims to position Honda competitively in this growing segment.
According to reports, the Elevate hybrid is set to launch in the second half of 2026, potentially around the festive season to maximise demand. This timeline aligns with the expected arrival of other hybrid SUVs like the next-gen Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta hybrids.
While the Honda Elevate hybrid is reportedly in the works, Honda is already working on an Elevate-based electric SUV, which was first confirmed at the launch of the Honda Elevate.
