Hyundai has introduced a new S AMT variant of the Aura sedan, priced at Rs 8.08 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). This makes the AMT version more accessible, undercutting the earlier entry point by Rs 87,000. Previously, the AMT was only available in the SX variant priced at Rs 8.95 lakh.
Despite being a more affordable trim, the Aura S AMT is well-equipped with features such as ESP, six airbags, LED DRLs, hill-start assist, and TPMS. It also includes power-folding ORVMs with turn indicators, 15-inch steel wheels with covers and a 2-din system.
The Hyundai Aura is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 83PS and 113Nm. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The engine remains unchanged across all variants.
In addition to petrol variants, Hyundai also offers the Aura with a factory-fitted CNG option, which comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission only. This option is aimed at budget-oriented customers looking for lower running costs.
The introduction of the more affordable S AMT trim is Hyundai’s direct response to increasing competition from the new-gen Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze, especially the latter’s VX CVT trim priced under Rs 10 lakh. This move strengthens the Aura’s position in the emerging compact sedan segment.
