Kia India recently launched the Carens Clavis MPV at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and announced an electric version of the same at the time of launch.
The carmaker, through its latest sales release, has confirmed that it will launch the Carens Clavis EV in the month of July this year, though the exact date of launch is unknown.
Expect the Kia Carens Clavis EV to be priced somewhere in the neighbourhood of Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), with no direct competitors.
The Clavis EV is likely to borrow its powertrains from the Hyundai Creta Electric, which include a 135PS electric motor paired to a 42kWh battery pack, and a 171PS electric motor paired to a 51.4kWh battery pack.
Expected Kia Carens Clavis EV features include powered and ventilated front seats, 360-degree cameras, V2V and V2L capabilities, TPMS, Level-2 ADAS functionalities, and more.
The design of the Clavis EV isn’t likely to be much different from the ICE MPV, except for new aero-styled alloy wheels, a closed front grille, and EV-specific badges on various body panels.
