An exclusive report suggests the Carens Clavis EV may launch solely in a 7-seater configuration. Kia’s teaser campaign only showcased the 7-seater layout, with no sign of a 6-seater option.
Sales data revealed that over 95% of Kia Carens buyers chose the 7-seater layout, while the 6-seater accounted for a mere 5%. This overwhelming preference is likely the primary reason Kia is sticking with the 7-seater setup for the Clavis EV.
The Carens Clavis EV will use a 51.4kWh battery pack with a claimed MIDC range of 490km. It shares its EV hardware with the Hyundai Creta Electric, and despite the Clavis EV’s larger size, it manages to offer better claimed range.
The Carens Clavis EV will launch on July 15, 2025, becoming Kia’s first made-in-India electric vehicle. This marks a strategic shift from Kia’s earlier EVs like the EV6, which were imported via CBU route.
Once launched, the Carens Clavis EV will directly compete with the BYD eMax7, which offers the option of both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations.
