The otherwise monopolistic Kia Carnival has got a competitor in the form of the new MG M9, and here’s a quick comparison between the two luxury MPVs.
What sets these two most apart is their propulsion systems, with the Carnival powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine (193PS, 441Nm) paired with an 8-speed AT, and the M9 powered by a 90kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor (245PS, 350Nm).
Both MPVs measure over 5 metres, with the M9 being the larger of the two. It measures 115mm longer, 5mm wider, and 65mm taller than the Carnival, and also gets a 110mm longer wheelbase.
The Carnival gets a more understated design with a classic boxy van shape and elegant styling features. The M9, on the other hand, gets a more curvier SUV-ish styling with lots of chrome and super large rear lights.
The M9 gets more techy second row seats with massage function and electric-adjustment. Not to say that the ones on the Carnival would feel uncomfortable. Both MPVs get three-zone climate control, Level-2 ADAS, premium sound systems, and more.
The Kia Carnival colour options include Fusion Black and Glacier White Pearl. The MG M9 colour options include Metal Black, Pearl Lustre White with black roof and Concrete Grey with black roof.
With both vans available in single variant options, the Carnival is priced at Rs 63.90 lakh, and the M9 at Rs 69.90 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The M9, however, is entitled to tax benefits in certain states, with the virtue of being an electric car.
