Kia has relaunched the Carnival in its latest generation, filling the gap for a luxury MPV between cars such as the Toyota Innova Hycross and the Toyota Vellfire. The previous generation of the Carnival was discontinued due to the updated BS6 emission norms.
The new Kia Carnival waiting time has been extended to almost a year, owing to the number of bookings received by Kia India from across the country. The Carnival is sold out for the next few months.
Kia has announced that it has been able to record over 3,000 Kia Carnival bookings since commencement. This is in spite of the fact that the new Carnival is priced at a huge premium over the previous generation.
The Carnival MPV is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It produces 193PS of maximum power and 441Nm of peak torque.
Kia is offering the Carnival in just one variant — Limousine Plus — priced at Rs 63.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). As per Autocar India, the Kia Carnival is being assembled via SKD kits at the Kia plant in Ananthapur.
It is to be noted that the actual waiting period for a new Kia Carnival depends on various factors including the colour option chosen and the dealership opted for.
