The Mahindra BE 6 is definitely Mahindra’s most ambitious leap into the electric SUV space and with its strong styling, powerful performance and plenty of features, it does promise plenty. However, how far can it go in the real world on a full charge? Let’s decode the numbers beyond the brochure.
The BE 6 is offered with two powertrain options – 231hp, 56kWh and 286hp, 79kWh. While the former promises a claimed range of 535km, it is the 79kWh pack that is claimed to deliver 682km on a single charge. Having said this, both these versions are offered with a rear-mounted electric motor capable of delivering 380N.
When tested in real-world conditions, the BE6 with the larger 79kWh battery pack delivered an impressive range of close to 500km when driven on the highway in Everyday Mode with regen set to level 1. This translates to roughly 6.3km/kWh efficiency.
Despite a heavy kerb weight, the Mahindra BE6 manages to deliver around 450km on a single charge in stop-go conditions. Under extremely heavy traffic, this version is likely to deliver close to 400km on a single charge.
Depending on the traffic conditions and driving style, the new Mahindra BE 6 79kWh version can return an efficiency of 5.5km/kWh to 6.5kWh in real-world driving.
