As per a report by Autocar India, Mahindra Auto is planning to launch at least two hybrid SUVs in India in the near future, seeing rising demand and future forecasts.
It is expected that the carmaker will launch hybrid versions of both its ICE as well as electric SUVs, with both lineups featuring different technologies.
Electric SUVs are likely to get range extender systems, which will include an engine to act as a generator for the battery, which will in turn run the electric motor(s). The engine on duty is likely to be a 1.2-litre petrol unit.
On the other hand, the ICE SUVs are expected to feature a series parallel hybrid system wherein the electric motor(s) will run the car at lower speeds while the engine will take over when more power is required.
Mahindra might soon launch a hybrid version of the XUV 3XO, which is likely to feature a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired to a strong hybrid setup to ensure higher fuel efficiency.
The brand is yet to confirm the same, and further details about its upcoming hybrid cars in India are awaited as of today.
