The Maruti e Vitara marks the brand's entry into the electric vehicle space in India. It is based on the Suzuki e Vitara, which recently went on sale in the UK at a price roughly equivalent to Rs 35 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the e Vitara will be launched in India with deliveries starting before the end of September 2025. The vehicle will be manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat facility, previously owned by Suzuki Corporation.
The Maruti e Vitara has now been spotted on Indian roads without camouflage, indicating that the production model is ready. It is also being showcased at several Nexa dealerships across India to assess public response ahead of the launch.
The e Vitara features a more upmarket cabin compared to other Maruti cars, with a dual-screen layout, a new flat-bottom steering wheel, and vertical AC vents. It offers premium features like a Harman Kardon sound system, ventilated seat and a powered driver’s seat.
Globally, the e Vitara is offered with three powertrain options, but the India-spec version will come with two, excluding the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant for now. Refer to the table mentioned above for detailed specifications.
