Toyota has put on a 48-volt mild-hybrid system on the Land Cruiser Prado for certain global markets. Here are more details about the same.
The mild-hybrid system has been paired to the 2.8-litre diesel engine that comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Total system output stands at 204PS and 500Nm.
This is the same powertrain that does duty on the India-spec Toyota Fortuner and Legender SUVs that were recently launched here. The UK-spec Toyota Hilux also gets the same setup.
The current-gen Prado features a rather boxy styling with squared-off wheel arches, large tyres, a grid-like pattern on the front grille, and almost-rectangular headlights and tail lights.
A similar rectangular theme is carried forward to the cabin. Key features include a dual-screen setup on the dashboard, multi-terrain modes, heated and ventilated leather seats, cooled centre console, and more.
Toyota is expected to launch the current-gen Prado in India in the second half of 2025, and it is likely to come with the new 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
