Nissan India announced the launch of three new vehicles: a Triber-based MPV and two SUVs. The first SUV will launch in mid-2026. A proper 7-seater SUV (not just an extended version of the first) will follow in 2027 alongside its Renault counterpart.
Nissan India confirmed it will not offer diesel engines in upcoming models. The decision is based on the declining popularity of diesel vehicles and the push to meet stricter emission norms. The company is considering electric and hybrid models as alternatives.
As part of its future strategy, Nissan is looking to introduce EVs and hybrids to align with evolving regulations and consumer demand via the CBU route.
Despite selling its stake in the Indian manufacturing facility, Nissan has begun pre-production of its upcoming models at Renault’s Chennai plant. The brand clarified that the stake sale will not impact its production capabilities.
Nissan plans to double its current production capacity to meet both domestic and export demands. This move aims to reinforce the company’s long-term commitment to the Indian automotive market and dispel exit rumours.
