Launched in 2022, Volkswagen Virtus is the brand’s first sedan launched under its India 2.0 Project. It shares its underpinnings and powertrains with the Skoda Slavia.
Being on sale for two years now, the Virtus is due for a facelift sometime next year. It is the best-selling car from Volkswagen, out of its current lineup of three cars in India — Taigun, Tiguan and Virtus.
The upcoming Volkswagen Virtus facelift is expected to feature cosmetic updates like redesigned bumpers, connected headlights and other design features. There might be new alloy wheel design(s) on offer too.
The powertrain options on the facelifted Volkswagen Vitrus are likely to remain unchanged. The Virtus currently gets a 1.0-litre TSI engine paired to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic ‘box, and a 1.5-litre TSI engine paired to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG. Whether a hybrid version will be offered is uncertain.
While the current Volkswagen Virtus is already loaded with a host of features, the facelift version is expected to get some more. These might include ADAS functionalities, a 360-degree camera setup and a head-up display.
The Volkswagen Virtus goes against the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and its sister-car, the Skoda Slavia. The current Virtus is priced between Rs 10.89 Lakhs and Rs 19.14 Lakhs (ex-showroom), as per the latest offers.
