Kia India has released a few sketches of one of its upcoming SUV, which looks like the Syros/Clavis SUV that we spied testing a few weeks ago. Here are some details about the same.
Kia says that its new SUV will take inspiration from some expensive Kia models in India such as the new Kia Carnival MPV and the new Kia EV9 electric family SUV. The distinctive b-pillar of the SUV makes it look a bit similar to the Skoda Yeti. Sketches reveal L-shaped rear lights and slim LED DRLs on the front.
We spied a two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel on the test mule, also a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a dual-screen setup for instrumentation and infotainment, and rear sensors for ADAS.
Other expected features include a 360-degree camera setup, ESC, ISOFIX child seat mounts, automatic climate control, electrically-adjustable front ventilated seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, et cetera.
It is natural to expect a petrol engine to be offered on the upcoming Kia SUV in India. The test mule we spotted had a diesel engine, so that might also be on the works. Kia is yet to clarify powertrain specifications of its upcoming car.
We expect Kia to launch the Syros/Clavis in early 2025. It will be positioned between the Sonet and the Seltos, so expect it to start from somewhere around Rs 8-9 lakh (ex-showroom).
