The Sierra was Tata Motors’ first-ever car, making it one of the most iconic cars in the history of the Indian automotive industry. The Sierra marked a breakthrough in terms of design and engineering, and Tata has decided to bring the iconic brand back to life through a bit of modernisation and electrification.
Tata showcased a concept of the upcoming Tata Sierra a few years back, featuring an electric powertrain, and a modern design both on the interior and exterior. The new Sierra shall be launched in both EV as well as ICE versions.
Tata Motors has just confirmed that they’ll launch the Sierra EV by the end of next year, that is by the end of 2025. It will be the automaker’s flagship vehicle in India, obviously barring the JLR range.
Just like what we saw in the case of the new Curvv EV, Tata shall first launch the electric version of the Tata Sierra, which will then be followed by the ICE version of the SUV a little later, probably in 2026.
The Sierra EV gives a throwback to the distinctive greenhouse of the original Sierra. Rest of the car features a minimalist styling language with smooth surfaces and clean panels. There are sleek LED lights at either ends and the Tata logo has been flattened instead of the conventional 3-D one.
We expect the Sierra EV to be priced northwards of Rs 28-30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be available in a four-seat lounge configuration as well as a standard five-seater configuration. Rest of the details are yet to be disclosed by Tata Motors.
