Brazil-spec Volkswagen Tera crash test results by Latin NCAP are in, and the model has clinched a stellar 5-star safety rating. The Tera was launched in Brazil only recently, having gone on sale a few months ago on March 3 this year.
In the adult occupant safety category, the Volkswagen Tera scored 35.95 points, which translates to an impressive 89.88%. Under this category, the model was tested in several areas: it earned 1.1 points in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier test, 2.56 points in the Whiplash Rear Impact test, 7.99 points in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier (car) test, and 7.27 points in the Side Pole Impact test.
Additionally, under the Adult Occupant category, the Tera performed well—meeting rear impact structure requirements, fulfilling AEB City’s technical and availability criteria, and providing the Rescue Sheet as per NCAP standards.
Volkswagen Tera’s child occupant safety, tested with 3- and 1.5-year-old dummies, scored an impressive 42.75 points—around 87.25%. Under the child restraint system, it earned 21.75 out of 24 for dynamic performance, a perfect 12 out of 12 for installation, and 9 out of 13 in vehicle assessment.
In pedestrian protection, the VW Tera delivered a respectable performance, earning 36.37 points, which is about 75.77%. This score includes 26.19 points for passive pedestrian protection and 10.18 points for AEB pedestrian and vulnerable road user systems, highlighting its well-rounded safety features.
VW Tera scored an impressive 36.45 points in the Safety Assist test, around 84.76%. This score breaks down into 3 points for speed assistance, 10 points for seat belt reminders, 15 points for ESC, and 8.45 points for AEB in interurban scenarios.
