The current generation of the Mahindra Thar was launched back in 2020, and it is due for a facelift. Here’s what to expect from the upcoming Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift.
As revealed by spy shots, the facelifted Thar is likely to borrow key design cues from the 5-door Thar such as the new six slat grille, C-shaped LED DRLs, and a new design for the alloy wheels.
The updated Thar is expected to come with more features like automatic AC, a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 360-degree cameras, and more.
One aspect where we don’t expect any change is the SUV’s powertrain options. These include a 1.5-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual, a 2.2-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor, and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor.
Media reports suggest that the facelifted Thar is expected to be launched sometime in September 2025, with the exact launch date yet to be revealed by the carmaker.
The current model of the 3-door Thar is priced between Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 17.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The facelifted SUV is likely to carry a premium, given the added features and design changes.
