The Nissan Terra was displayed to the public in Auto China in the year 2018. Following this, it was launched in the Philippines on 28th of May 2018, Indonesia on 2nd of August 2018, and in Thailand on the 16th of August the same year. In 2019, the Terra was launched in Brunei, following which, it was facelifted and was made available as the X-Terra in the GCC market in November 2020. Finally, it is planned to be launched in India on the 28th of May 2022.
Although the Nissan Terra has a 2.5L Petrol engine as well, in the Indian market, this SUV is being launched with a 2.3L and a 2.5L diesel engine only.
Although Nissan Terra is available in both petrol and diesel variants, it is launching only the diesel variant in the Indian market. The fuel economy is at 9.17 kilometers per liter at an average speed of 28 kilometers per hour.
Although the Nissan Terra is available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed automatic transmission, it is launching in India with the automatic variant only.

Nissan, the Japan based automobile giant, launched the Nissan Terra in the year 2018. Terra is a medium sized sports utility vehicle that was designed by Masanobu Ino. Following its popularity in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei and GCC markets, Nissan is planning to launch the Nissan Terra in India in May 2022. This will be the first Terra version to hit the Indian market.
Terra is available in a 2.5L petrol, a 2.3L diesel and a 2.5L diesel engine. These engines are equipped to manage 6 manual and 7 automatic speed transmissions. But in India, they are planning to launch only the automatic diesel variant.
As per the latest update there are 6 colors that are available for Nissan Terra in the Philippines. These are Forged Metallic Copper, Galaxy Black, Brilliant Silver, Lunar Metallic Gray, Aspen Pearl White, and Nebula Metallic Red. However, in India it is estimated that the company will be launching the SUV in one color – Brown.
The Terra is equipped with Nissan Intelligent mobility that increases the safety aspect of the SUV. Features like Intelligent collision warning, emergency braking and lane departure warning are a definite USP. It has a wide cabin space, making it a comfortable family car.
Being a mid-level SUV, the estimated average ex-showroom price for the Nissan Terra is INR 20 lakhs. It will also be at loggerheads with MG Hector which is priced between INR 13.50 to 19.35 lakhs, Hyundai Alcazar priced at INR 16.30 to 20 lakhs, Tata Safari that is priced between INR 15 to 23 lakhs, and Mahindra XUV700 priced between INR 12.5 to 23 lakhs.
