In China, Renault just unveiled the City-KZE, an electric version of the Kwid. The Kwid EV is slated to debut in India in 2022. Renault's five-year strategy from 2017 to 2022 emphasises this launch. The Chinese variant’s electric engine on the front axle produces 44 PS of maximum power and 125 Nm of maximum torque. The battery pack has a capacity of 26.8 kWh and requires 4 hours to charge when utilising a 6.6kWh AC source of electricity altogether. The City K-ZE also supports DC rapid charging, which can charge the cells from 30% to 80% in about half an hour. Renault has equipped the City K-ZE with an 8-inch widescreen navigation system, 4G WiFi access, online music support, remote car telemetry, a PM2.5 air quality scanner, and a tire compression surveillance system.
It will compete against Maruti Suzuki's planned XL5 EV and Mahindra's eKUV100 whenever it is released. The Renault Kwid EV will have a localised level of about 75% at launch. Renault will strive to localise it even more once it is on the market, constructing the battery and producing the e-motor locally. Renault has stated that it intends to make cells here in the future. A raised ride height reduces the risk of damage to the car's battery pack located in the trunk. The Kwid EV will have a similar appearance and functionality to the normal petrol-powered Kwid.
Renault is working very hard to really get the all-electric Kwid EV to India. The car is now available in China, and the Indian iteration will most definitely have the same features. A 26kWh battery pack is planned to power a near-45hp internal combustion engine in the Kwid EV for India. In the Indian version, the ground elevation is likely to be modified.
The risk of breaking the car's battery pack housed in the trunk is reduced by raising the ground clearance. The Kwid EV will look and perform similarly to the standard gasoline Kwid. At introduction, the Renault Kwid EV will also have a standardisation level of roughly 75%. Renault will work to localise the vehicle even further once it is on the market, building the battery and manufacturing the e-motor in-house. Renault has claimed that in the future, it plans to manufacture cells in India.
