Tata Hexa EXPERT REVIEWS

With the automatic gearbox, it's easy to drive the Hexa through the city or on long trips. On the fly, you can switch to the "Sport Mode," and the Hexa increases the rotation rate (RPM) by 1,000 effortlessly. All of this is made possible by the Varicor engine of Tata Motors, which offers 400 Nm of peak torque. That's an increase of 80Nm over the Aria engine. It is hard to tell when the diesel motor is lag-free when you push the accelerator hard on the Hexa.

The automatic version of the Hexa comes to a halt easily due to the impressive bite of the disc brakes. This is made possible by the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with the Traction Control System (TCS). With the four drive modes, at first, it is hard to tell the difference, but they all enhance the performance of the Hexa. The SUV has a more refined ride and handling than Aria. Tata Motors has addressed the body roll issue, and the Crossover UV is snug and stable around the corners.

Hexa is probably Tata's best-built vehicle. Compared to the XUV and similar vehicles, the fit-and-finish is better. The Hexa has much better handling and vehicle dynamics at high speeds. Another great addition is the Super Drive Modes: Comfort, Dynamic, Rough Road and Auto. When compared to its rivals, Hexa is wider and offers more space. But, bringing the Hexa to a stop is somewhat difficult with the manual version's clutch and the brakes.

VARICOR 400's 2.2-litre engine provides the most power. Power is 6PS higher than a Crysta and 16PS higher than an XUV. Torque-wise, it's 400Nm stronger than the other two. Both the Crysta and XUV have engines producing 330 Nm of torque. Highway driving is made easy with Hexa's 6-speed transmission and ample peak torque. With the price range offered by Tata, it is definitely a value for money product.

With its stylish design, off-roading capabilities, and fun-to-drive automatic transmission, Tata Motors is redefining the Crossover Utility Vehicle segment. Clearly, they got almost everything right with Hexa.
