Citroen Basalt
The Citroen Basalt is a compact SUV-coupe that is built on Citroen's C-Cubed platform. The same platform even underpins the C3 and Aircross models in the carmaker’s lineup.
This means it shares many components with its siblings, including the 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine and various structural elements. The Basalt offers a more stylish look with a sloping coupe-like roofline, squared-out wheel arches, and a lowered ground clearance.
<p>The Citroen Basalt price ranges from ₹ 8.31 lakh to ₹ 14.1 lakh (ex-showroom). For buyers in Delhi, the on-road price is approximately ₹ 9.3 lakh to ₹ 16.2 lakh. In Mumbai, customers have to shell out an on-road price of about ₹ 9.7 lakh to ₹ 16.5 lakh. The Basalt’s only direct rival is the Tata Curvv, which is another coupe-SUV launched around the same time. However, on the pricing front, it even rivals sub-4-metre models like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza. </p>
<p>The Citroen Basalt shares its platform and powertrain with other models in Citroen's C3-family. It is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. The turbo-petrol motor delivers 110 hp of power and 210 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. An electric powertrain variant is also expected to be introduced later.</p>
<p>The Citroen Basalt, according to ARAI standards, returns a mileage of 19.5 kmpl for the manual transmission and 18.7 kmpl for the automatic transmission. Both these figures are for the turbo-petrol variant. In real world conditions, safely expect a mileage of upto 16 kmpl under normal use. </p>
