We bought our Swift Dzire second-hand in 2018 and it has been one of the best decisions for our family. At that time, we already owned a Maruti Swift and a Scorpio, but the Dzire became the car that my father and brother drove the most. I was still a child back then and didn’t know how to drive, but I always loved sitting in it. The diesel DDiS engine was smooth, powerful, and gave excellent mileage. Maintenance was easy and affordable, and it served us perfectly for 10 years. Unfortunately, due to the Delhi-NCR norms, we had to part ways with that beast, otherwise we would have happily kept it longer. Later, we again bought a Dzire, this time with petrol + CNG for commercial use, which my elder brother drives. I still remember a story with that car — we were returning late at night from a wedding, 5 people packed inside, and due to heavy traffic we blindly followed Google Maps onto a very bad road. Looking at the condition of the road, we honestly thought the Dzire wouldn’t be able to cross it. But with a little bit of difficulty, the car handled it so well and passed through without any problem. That’s when we realized how reliable and capable this car really is. Overall, the Swift Dzire has been the most trustworthy, economical, and family-friendly car for us — truly a complete package with mileage, comfort, and low maintenance.

My 2008 Swift Dzire is not just a car, it’s my trusted partner on every journey. With 1 lakh+ kms covered, from rugged terrains to river crossings, it has never once let me down. Unlike today’s sub-4 meter cars, mine offers real sedan space with a huge boot that makes every trip practical. Even without modern features like ABS, EBD, or hill assist, it feels safe, stable at high speeds, and free of body roll. Truly a timeless machine that proves reliability and trust matter most.

Dzire is a practical and well-rounded compact sedan that appeals to a wide range of customers. It offers a comfortable cabin, good fuel efficiency, and a reputation for reliability. While it may not have the most exciting design or a host of advanced features, it excels in delivering a practical and affordable transportation solution, which has been its key to success in the Indian market. However, I recommend checking for any updates or changes made to the Dzire model beyond my last knowledge update in September 2021 before making a purchase decision.

Maruti Dzire (1st gen) was one of the best in segment. Brilliant performance and handling, plenty of space, reliable systems, and low cost maintenance. I still consider 1st gen Dzire as better option as compared to 2nd and 3rd gen.
