The MG Windsor EV, launched in September 2024, marked a significant milestone in India's electric vehicle (EV) market by introducing the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. This approach allows customers to purchase the vehicle at a reduced upfront cost and pay for battery usage separately. Under this scheme, the Windsor EV is available at an introductory price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with a battery rental fee of ₹3.5 per kilometer.
The BaaS model has been well-received, accounting for a portion of Windsor's sales. The Windsor EV has significantly boosted MG's presence in the EV market, contributing to 49% of the brand's total sales within just three months of its launch. Beyond its innovative pricing strategy, the MG Windsor EV offers a compelling blend of performance, practicality, and affordability. Equipped with a 38 kWh battery pack, it delivers a claimed range of up to 332 km on a full charge. Notable features include a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, and an Infinity View Glass Roof.
