Hyundai is aggressively working on introducing its hydrogen powered vehicles and has recently revealed the Initium hydrogen PCEV SUV with new powertrain that is likely to offer much greater performance than the Nexon FCEV’s powertrain.
To be introduced as Hyundai’s first SUV that sports the new ‘Art of Steel’ design language, the Initium SUV will boast a bold styling with strong aerodynamics and strong character lines. More details however are yet to be known.
This hydrogen powered SUV will get a single electric motor that is capable of delivering up to 204hp. With a targeted range of more than 650km, the new Initium SUV will offer similar range as the Nexon FCEV. Furthermore, this new SUV will also get vehicle-to-load capability, which allows the battery to power external devices.
While Hyundai will be revealing the production-spec version sometime in 2025, it is yet to comment on the Indian launch of this new hydrogen SUV. The Korean carmaker however was earlier evaluating launching the Nexon to the Indian market and had showcased the Nexo in 2018.
There are multiple Hyundai cars which will soon be launched in the Indian market in the coming years including the much anticipated Creta EV. From what we know so far, the new Hyundai Creta EV will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025.
