Tata Motors is reportedly offering a lifetime battery warranty on the Nexon EV 45kWh variant, following a similar move with the Harrier EV. This warranty is aimed at improving consumer confidence in long-term EV usability.
The lifetime battery warranty applies to both new and existing owners of the Nexon EV 45. However, it is valid only for the first owner. In case of resale, the second owner receives a reduced warranty of 8 years or 1.6 lakh km, whichever comes first.
The offer is exclusive to the Nexon EV 45kWh variant, which uses Tata's new prismatic battery cells. Other EVs in Tata’s lineup — including the EV and Punch EV — and even the 30kWh Nexon EV are not covered under this policy.
To maintain eligibility, owners must service the vehicle only at Tata-authorised dealerships and strictly follow the service schedule. Non-compliance may void the lifetime battery warranty.
The Nexon EV 45kWh variant delivers 145PS power, 215Nm torque, and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. It offers a claimed range of 489 km (MIDC), significantly higher than the 30kWh variant, which offers 275 km and no lifetime warranty.
