The upcoming Mahindra KUV100 used to be an SUV-styled B1-segment hatchback that was discontinued due to low demand. Now, though, it looks like Mahindra is ready to give the KUV100 a new lease of life by transforming its low-selling car into an EV. The eKUV has been talked about for more than a couple of years now and it seems that it will finally be ready to hit the market around mid-2023.

The Mahindra eKUV100 is expected to feature a powertrain similar to the concept Mahindra eVerito which was unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo. Powering the eKUV 100 will be a 15.9kWh Lithium-ion battery that will give the compact SUV a range of 147 kms on a full charge. According to the company, the car will have fast charging capabilities that will take the battery from 0-80 percent in a single hour. Mahindra is expected to include a number of upgraded features in the eKUV100 such as location tracking, parking sensors in the rear, over-speeding alert, ABS with EBD, dual airbags in the front, and cabin pre-cooling.

Expected LaunchOctober 2023
Expected Ex-Showroom PriceRs. 20 Lakh Onwards

Mahindra is known for their durable off-road vehicles such as the Scorpio and Bolero but there is one name that stands out from the rest in terms of looks and performance – the Thar. Since the release of the new Thar, it has been one of the biggest hits in the Indian automotive market. Now the company is ready to launch the new Thar 5-Door variant sometime in 2023. In terms of power, the upcoming Thar 5-Door is expected to retain the current 2.0L Turbo-petrol and 2.2L diesel engines with a possibility of getting a higher state of tune in the future.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door could also come in an affordable 2-Wheel-Drive version. The majority of upgrades are expected to be on the inside with comfortable seats, multifunctional steering options, a bigger driver information display, and an overall modern finish to it than before. Expected features on the Thar 5-Door include automatic climate control, push-button start/stop, and air-conditioning vents in the rear. Safety will also be important for the Thar 5-Door and it should come with ISOFIX Child Seat Anchors, dual airbags in the front, parking sensors in the rear, and ABS with EBD.

Expected LaunchMarch 2024
Expected Ex-Showroom PriceRs. 25 Lakh Onwards

Mahindra XUV Aero was unveiled back at the 2016 Auto Expo. However, the concept never made it to production as Mahindra shifted its focus toward the development of the XUV700 and the Scorpio-N. Now, though, the crossover SUV could see the light of day sometime in late 2023. While the concept version of the XUV Aero has similarities with the Mahindra XUV 500, the production version could look more like the XUV700 and the Born Electric concept. That said, the coupe crossover body style will be retained.

Also, the production-spec Mahindra XUV Aero could initially get an electric powertrain only. While details are scarce at the moment, expect around a 40 kWh battery pack and a claimed range of around 400 km. The new model could be priced around the Rs 25 lakh mark.

Expected LaunchNovember 2024
Expected Ex-showroom PriceRs 30 Lakh onwards

While the Mahindra XUV700 has already tasted tons of success, it looks like Mahindra is preparing another version of its hot-selling flagship. Expected to go on sale towards the end of next year, the EV version of the Mahindra XUV700 could become the first Indian electric SUV in its segment. The new model will share its features list with the XUV700 AX7L top model. This means it would come with a range of equipment including a digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a 360-degree camera. The safety kit would include adaptive cruise control, lane keeps assist, 7 airbags, Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), electronic parking brake, and ADS with EBD.

The new model is likely to share its EV powertrain with the XUV Aero. This would mean the SUV would feature a 40kWh Li-ion battery powering a single motor. The peak power and torque would be pegged at 150bhp and 325Nm, respectively. The electric SUV could have a top speed of 150 kmph and be capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 10 seconds.
