Mahindra Thar 3 door diesel manual. There's something raw and real about the Thar. It's not just a car it's an experience. I love the 3 door version with the diesel engine and manual gearbox because it feels old-school in the best way. You're connected to the machine shifting gears by hand, feeling the torque of the diesel engine, and hearing that solid clunk when the 4x4 is engaged. The Thar is built to take on anything. Whether it's bad roads, slush, sand, or steep trails it just keeps going without breaking a sweat. Driving it makes you feel like you can conquer anything. It's not trying to be soft or fancy it's honest, capable, and full of character. What I also like is how it's evolved. The new Thar is way more comfortable than the older one it has better seats, a touchscreen, and safety features but it still keeps that rugged charm. The design is boxy and bold, and it always turns heads wherever it goes. And the best part? It brings people together. Whether you're going on a road trip, camping with friends, or just cruising on a Sunday, the Thar always makes the journey more fun and memorable. For me,

Mahindra Thar (second-generation stands out to me not just as a vehicle, but as an embodiment of character, adventure, and transformation. It beautifully bridges the gap between rugged, old-school off-roading heritage and modern-day practicality. What makes the Thar especially compelling is how Mahindra has evolved it from being a niche enthusiast's toy into a more refined, lifestyle-oriented SUV without compromising on its core DNA. From a design standpoint, the new Thar retains its iconic stance and presence while adding premium touches and improved ergonomics. Under the hood, both the petrol and diesel powertrains offer solid performance, and the availability of automatic transmissions has broadened its appeal. What I admire most is its versatility. It can be a daily driver in the city (thanks to better road manners and safety features like ESP and airbags), but it's equally at home climbing rocky trails, wading through streams, or exploring rural backroads. The fact that it offers 4x4 capability as standard across variants reflects Mahindra's commitment to authenticity.

Among all the cars currently on sale in India, my personal favourite is the Mahindra Thar (2nd Generation, 4x4 variant). While there are more technologically advanced or luxurious vehicles in the market, the Thar stands out to me for what it represents: a true-blue, go-anywhere lifestyle vehicle that stays rooted in ruggedness, simplicity, and character. Having had the privilege of owning and working on an ex-army Mahindra MM550, I deeply appreciate Mahindra's efforts in evolving the Thar without diluting its core DNA. What draws me most to the new Thar is the balance it strikes between modern comfort and traditional off-road capabilities. It retains its ladder-frame chassis, low-range transfer case, and mechanical robustness— qualities that are becoming increasingly rare in today's market of soft-roaders and compact SUVs. Yet, Mahindra has added modern touches like a touchscreen infotainment system, factory-fitted hardtop, and improved ride comfort, making it far more livable for daily use. From a design perspective, it retains a classic charm while adopting a contemporary stance. Whether it's for weekend trails, long highway drives, or just the joy of driving a vehicle th

I believe it strikes a perfect balance between off-road capability, modern creature comforts, and aspirational value. The new Thar retains its rugged DNA and iconic design while offering significant improvements in terms of safety, refinement, and technology. Whether you're driving through city traffic, taking a weekend trip to the mountains, or simply appreciating the stance of the vehicle, the Thar commands attention and respect. It represents the evolution of Indian automotive engineering from being utilitarian-focused to matching international lifestyle standards. The availability of both petrol and diesel options, coupled with automatic and manual transmissions, also reflects how Mahindra has considered a wider audience. I respect the way it has broadened the appeal of off-road vehicles in India.

Despite being a sedan lover, my favorite car must be the Mahindra Thar. It’s not merely a vehicle; it’s an experience. I admire how it is an amalgamation of modern features with the timeless charm of a true off-roader. The design stands out as rugged yet refined, and every time I get a glance of it on the road, it reminds me of adventure, and the spirit of exploration. Its versatility is what catches my attention. It is a capable off-roader, great for road trips, and yet it can handle the city with ease. It is admirable that Mahindra has managed to retain its heritage while adding safety, comfort, and technology. The removable roof makes it real head-turner and adds to its appeal for someone who loves outdoors. While there are more premium SUVs available, the Thar stands out as it doesn’t pretend to be luxurious. It’s honest about itself and it is a trait that should be admired both in machines and humans.

I wanted to share my enthusiasm for a truly impressive vehicle. It stands out in its class, offering fantastic value for its price point. What makes it so great are its features, such as the 4x4 capability, which makes it a capable off-road performer. Being a Mahindra, it naturally benefits from their renowned build quality. Moreover, the design and popularity of Mahindra vehicles, especially the iconic Thar, speak for themselves. It really is a top-tier car.

My favorite is the Mahindra Thar. What makes the Thar stand out for me is its perfect blend of rugged off-road capability and modern lifestyle utility. It's a true SUV that embraces India's diverse terrainswhether it's navigating city streets or tackling challenging rural roads and trails. The Thar's design pays homage to classic Jeep styling, which adds to its appeal for enthusiasts who appreciate heritage and character. Beyond its looks and capability, the Thar offers a great balance of performance, comfort, and features for its segment. The availability of both petrol and diesel options, coupled with manual and automatic transmissions, makes it versatile. Thar is just the OG and definitely one of the finest cars you will find and to be one of the most value for money car in its segment. While the ground clearance and mileage are amazing and has good safety features. It is a family car and Power delivery and rear seat leg space could have been better, but its ease of driving and compact design are a boon for city driving.
- RRajion 25th September 20234.5
Mahindra Thar price is also low on its segment, Everyone can take it. It runs very smooth, the power is also very good. The looks are very bold and very attractive too. Long life and low maintenance cost. It had to get more mileage and body is very strong.

My current favourite is the same that I acquired last week ! Thar Roxx AX7L D AT The car has been optimised perfectly or the most optimally to be a proper SUV while being practical for day to day use. It also provides one of the most value for money combination in terms of the features and powertrain. The powertrain is excellent and has a lot of punch packed while feeling like a high tech car from inside the cabin.
- AEAuto Enthusiaston 17th October 20255.0
Nice car for off-roading. Best part everyone will look to your car and the average of thar is low because of its strong engine and performance. Beyond performance, the Thar gives a sense of freedom and versatility that few other cars in India offer, making it my top choice both practically and emotionally.

The Mahindra Thar in black is like, the ultimate ride for someone who's into that outdoorsy, adventure-loving lifestyle. It's got this badass design that screams 'I can handle anything!' with its tough look and can-do attitude. Whenever I hop in, it's like I'm unstoppable, you know? Ready to take on whatever the road throws at me. It's got that classic jeep vibe going on, but with some modern twists that make it super cool. It's like having a blast from the past with all the fun toys of the present. Cruising around town is cool and all, but when you hit those muddy trails, oh man, that's when the Thar really comes alive. It's like it was made for that stuff. And let me tell you, in black? It's not just a car; it's like a majestic beast that turns heads wherever it goes.
