Diesel cars in India are slowly losing popularity, especially in the budget and mid-size segments. Many automakers have discontinued diesel engines due to stricter emission norms. However, some models still offer this option. The Tata Altroz is the most affordable diesel car in India. Meanwhile, premium SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700 and Toyota Fortuner remain popular diesel vehicles due to their strong torque and efficiency. Even luxury brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz continue offering diesel options. While new diesel cars are becoming rare, they still provide excellent fuel economy. However, there are currently not many upcoming diesel cars in India.
