Current used car market trends in Hyderabad

Swift and Baleno are two of the most popular cars in Hyderabad’s used car market

According to Cars24’s internal data for January 2025 to July 2026, the Maruti Suzuki Swift was Hyderabad’s most popular used-car model, accounting for 4.68% of purchases, followed by the Baleno at 3.27%. However, demand remains spread across several models, with the top 10 accounting for only around 27% of purchases. Hatchbacks occupy six of these 10 positions, giving buyers a wide choice of compact cars across both manual and automatic transmissions. Sedans, including the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Verna, account for three spots, while the Tata Nexon is the only SUV in the list, at 2.31%. Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai models together represent roughly 20% of purchases.

Petrol is still the most popular fuel option for Hyderabadis

Hyderabad’s used-car market remains firmly centred on conventional fuels. Cars24’s internal transaction data for January 2025 to July 2026 shows petrol cars leading with a 67.31% share, while diesel vehicles account for another 29.48%. The combined share of these two fuel types is close to 97%, leaving relatively little room for alternatives. LPG and CNG account for 1.68% and 1.41% of purchases, respectively, while electric and hybrid cars together contribute less than 0.2%. The figures point to a clear preference for petrol and diesel models, with petrol having a much wider lead. Buyers exploring other fuel options will find a considerably smaller share of the market represented by these vehicles.

Older hatchbacks continue to find strong demand in Hyderabad’s pre-owned market

Cars24’s internal data for January 2025 to July 2026 shows that hatchbacks account for 50.97% of used-car purchases, giving them a clear lead in Hyderabad. SUVs are another significant category: compact and full-size SUVs together make up 22.57% of purchases, ahead of sedans at 20.63%. This puts SUVs in a stronger position than sedans, reflecting the appeal of higher ground clearance and a more commanding driving position. Sedans continue to attract buyers who prioritise cabin comfort and a more premium driving experience. MUVs and MPVs account for 5.01% of purchases, while vans contribute just 0.82%. Overall, hatchbacks, SUVs and sedans together represent over 94% of the market, with other body styles forming a much smaller share.
