8 Seater Cars in India
The 8 Seater Car Segment in India
The Indian 8 seater car market is small but well-defined. Almost all of the models use a 2+3+3 seating arrangement (bench seats), derived from the very popular 7-seater MPVs. Captain-seat arrangements are avoided here because they reduce total capacity and raise costs. In India, an 8 seater car makes sense for joint families, frequent group travel or for commercial passenger use, where all seats are occupied on a regular basis.
What really distinguishes good 8-seaters from bad ones is not the amount of space on the brochures, but usability in the real world. Suspension tuning plays a big role, as these cars are usually driven fully loaded. Air conditioning system effectiveness for the third row, ease of entry and comfort over high mileage are usually more important than the size of the touchscreen or the amount of connected features.
