In case you drop in at any of our branches without having an appointment booked, you will be asked to book one on the spot. This will lead to unnecessary wastage of time and effort, which we tend to avoid. We are serving several customers at a time, and our goal is to ensure all of them receive the same kind of experience. Having dedicated slots booked in advance helps us achieve the same and allows us to serve our customers in the best way possible.

How long will my car's inspection take?

At CARS24, we evaluate a used car on the basis of several parameters. Our dedicated car experts are trained to complete the entire process of car inspection within a time period of 30-45 minutes. However, there might be instances, pertaining to different car conditions, when the car inspection process may even extend to 90 minutes.

I got an SMS to check in, where do I have to check in at the branch?

One of our branch team members will come to you and assist you with the check-in process, provided you have booked an appointment beforehand. Please ensure that you get the check-in done as soon as you enter the branch, so that you are queued in for the inspection process to start.

Till when are your branches open?

Our branches generally operate from 10 am - 6 pm. We recommend that you reach our branch by 5 pm to avoid any hassle or delay. Please note that there might be some branches across India which do not operate on a certain day of the week. Can I send my driver to get the inspection done?

Yes, you can. However, you must ensure that your driver carries all the required documents to get the car inspected. Also, please note that the owner of the car needs to self-attest all the documents involved. We will also need the bank account details of the registered owner of the car to initiate the transaction.

What is ‘service charge’ and is it mandatory?

When you sell your car to us, we levy a nominal service charge based on the final offer price for your car. Details on the applicable service charges will be shared with you after your car's inspection.

What if I don’t get the amount within the stipulated time?

How long will it take for the payment to be transferred to my bank account?

Payment for your car will be instant, right before we pick it up from your location.

What happens if I cancel the deal after signing the documents?

We strive to offer a hassle-free experience to our customers as well as our channel partners. If you wish to cancel the deal after the token amount has been paid, you will have to return the token amount and pay a cancellation charge of INR 5,000. This charge is to compensate for the overhead cost of the entire transaction and any monetary loss that our channel partner who booked this car incurred due to this cancellation. Please remember, no cancellation is possible once the delivery amount has been paid.

I have an active loan against my car. Can I still sell it?

If the car you want to sell is financed, simply bring along a current dated foreclosure letter issued by the bank and we will pay the loan on your car. The settlement amount will be deducted from the CARS24 quote for your car. Alternatively, you can settle the loan yourself before selling the car to us. CARS24 may hold back a certain amount until you submit a loan clearance NOC from the bank.

Home Car Inspection

If my car is not in working condition (non-moving) or is to be scrapped, can I still get the inspection done?

Our car evaluators will inspect the car on multiple parameters - exteriors, interiors, engine quality, and a short test drive to be able to generate a fair, unbiased inspection report. If your car is to be scrapped, we will be able to do the inspection as per that of a non-moving car. But if it’s not a scrap car, we request you to get the car in a moving condition before the evaluator reaches your location. 

For example, in case it is a battery issue, you may ask your local mechanic to jump-start the battery before the evaluator reaches your place, and highlight the same to the car evaluator before the inspection begins.

What if I have more than one car that needs to be inspected?

We would request you to book separate inspection slots for every car that you have as our evaluators inspect multiple cars a day.

Do I need to be present during the inspection?

No. However, you must ensure that whoever is present during the inspection has all required documents and the keys to the car.

  • No alterations/modifications like electrical fittings, CNG/LPS kits, tyre modification, or installation of parts like bumper guards, loud horns, etc.
  • No commercial usage of the car
  • No tampering with the odometer of the car
  • The car is not sold to another person before the expiration of the warranty validity period

What is not covered under the CARS24 warranty?

The warranty will be applicable only to the parts which are mentioned in the Warranty Booklet. The following is not covered under the Warranty:

  • Accidental or Consequential Damage: Any damage caused due to driving in a race, rally, off-roading, or any form of motorsport event. Damage caused due to rash driving, road accident, or any such events
  • Damage to the bodywork and paint caused due to accidents
  • Car Servicing: Routine maintenance service including cleaning, polishing, engine tuning, carbon cleaning, AC Servicing, AC gas leak, wheel alignment and balancing, tyre rotation, calibration/reconditioning of diesel components, injector/nozzles, and fuel pump
  • Consumables/Wear and Tear

How can I raise an insurance claim?

You can directly reach out to the insurance provider in order to claim your motor insurance. The insurance company will require specific documents to process the claim including a copy of the insurance policy, pictures of the vehicle, RC, driver’s licence, claim form, etc. depending on the damage and policy coverage.

Does my CARS24 purchase include insurance on the car?

Getting your car insured is an essential step in your car-buying journey. You can proceed with one of the following insurance options when purchasing your car from CARS24:

1.New Insurance Purchase via CARS24 (recommended)- You can choose to add a new insurance policy via CARS24 to your purchase when buying a car. A fresh insurance policy is issued directly under your name and your car will be insured from the date of purchase.

2.Continuing with the previous owner’s car insurance policy: In case the car has active insurance valid for more than 180 days from the date of delivery and you would like to continue with it, it is advised that you get the policy transferred within 14 days of the purchase, as mandated by the Motor Vehicles Act. It is the new owner’s responsibility to get the insurance transferred. CARS24 does not facilitate this process.

Will CARS24 also get the insurance transferred for me?

Unfortunately, CARS24 does not provide any insurance transfer service currently. Customers are requested to connect with the insurance provider to get the insurance transferred after purchasing the car and receiving the relevant documents from CARS24.
If the current insurance of the car is not under your name, we recommend that you get the insurance transferred within 14 days of your purchase to ensure that the car is protected from any unforeseen situations.

What if my RC transfer is already completed?

If the RC (Registration Certificate) transfer is complete, deductions apply as per the return window:

  • 0–7 days: 15 % of the car price or ₹40,000 (whichever is higher)
  • 8–30 days: same deduction as above.These are clearly listed in the policy so every customer knows the refund breakdown in advance.

What happens if my RC transfer is in progress during the return?

If your RC (Registration Certificate) transfer is already in progress, CARS24 will hold back a portion of the refund amount until the RC process is successfully completed. The holdback depends on the car’s value and is released once the RC transfer is confirmed. This ensures that ownership transfer and refund both stay clear and compliant.

What happens if the car is driven beyond 999 km or has missing items?
