Jeep Wrangler

While other SUVs provide multiple engine options, the Jeep Wrangler is solely powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It also comes with an automatic 8-speed transmission, and the entire setup generates about 400 Nm of torque and 268 bhp, which are efficient numbers to tackle both highway cruising and challenging off-road sections.  Right now, the Jeep Wrangler does not come with a diesel option; something every buyer should be aware of if fuel efficiency and mileage are two reasons of concern.

Willys 41 Special Edition

Fuel efficiency is not the Jeep Wrangler’s strongest suit, but it also does not target a buyer class that prioritises mileage numbers.

• Official ARAI figures range roughly between 10.6 and 11.4 kmpl, which is respectable for a large 4×4 petrol SUV but not class-leading.

• The real-world figures tend to be much lower, somewhere between 9.5 and 12.5 kmpl, especially in city traffic or off-road conditions.

The exterior of the Wrangler India remains fiercely loyal to its heritage, with its iconic 7-slot grille, rugged bumpers, upright windscreen and bold wheel arches making it instantly recognisable.  The newer Wrangler India models also come with sharper LED lighting, modern alloys, rear styling and a revamped front that mixes contemporary aesthetics with trail-ready practicality.  Besides that, the classic Jeep Wrangler has other features like roof panels and removable doors, meaning that you can travel open-air whenever the mood strikes.

But it targets buyers who value luxury more than raw ruggedness and comes at a significantly higher price point compared to the Jeep Wrangler.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class: The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is another competitor, delivering extreme off-road capability with high-end luxury and an iconic design. It also features powerful engines, a plush interior, and advanced safety systems, but similar to the Defender, the G-Class is also pricier than the Jeep Wrangler. The latter focuses on delivering actual off-road capability, whereas many of its competitors lean towards urban refinement or luxury. 

Just like every other SUV, the Jeep Wrangler also has its own benefits and drawbacks. 

If you value strong off-road ability, solid build quality, and a bold driving character, the Jeep Wrangler is an apt choice to settle for. It suits buyers who like to go on adventures, long road trips, and navigate challenging terrain, while still wanting highway-level comfort coupled with modern-day features. 

However, the vehicle may not suit buyers who prioritise fuel efficiency, easy city driving, or a softer ride experience. Its large frame, firm suspension, and premium price are built for a specific purpose: being a reliable off-roading machine in a highly competitive segment with its capability, presence, and character. If driving excites you more than practicality, and going on regular adventures is something that you like to do, the Jeep Wrangler promises a rewarding ownership experience.
