You no longer need to stop and wait in long lines to pay tolls. This system removes the frustrating delays that once interrupted a smooth highway journey. FASTag provides you with a seamless, stop-free, and cashless way to pay, minimising the time you spend at a toll plaza. To use the service, you simply need a FASTag sticker, which essentially is an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag attached to your windshield.
With numerous banks providing FASTag, you may find it difficult to select the best option. ICICI FASTag, offered by the ICICI Bank, stands out as one of the reliable, secure, and convenient choices for your digital toll payments. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about the ICICI FASTag, including how to apply, recharge, manage your account, and reach customer support.
What is ICICI FASTag?
ICICI FASTag is a small, RFID-enabled sticker that you attach to your vehicle’s windscreen. It works as a prepaid tag, automatically deducting toll charges from your linked ICICI FASTag wallet or bank account whenever you pass through a toll plaza. This system eliminates the need to stop for cash payments, improving traffic flow and ensuring a faster, more convenient journey.
The tag itself is a compact, multi-layered sticker. As your vehicle crosses a toll gate, RFID sensors instantly detect the tag, process the payment, and update your balance in real time. You’ll also receive an SMS notification immediately after each transaction, helping you track your toll expenses with ease.
ICICI FAStag KYC Categories
When you apply for an ICICI FASTag, you can choose between two KYC options — Limited KYC or Full KYC. Each comes with different benefits, limits, and document requirements, so it’s best to select the one that suits your usage needs.
Limited KYC
If you haven’t completed full KYC, your monthly wallet reload limit is capped at ₹10,000, with an annual limit of ₹1,20,000. To activate this version, you’ll need to verify your mobile number through an OTP and provide a self-declaration that includes your name and the identification number from any ‘mandatory document’ or ‘officially valid document’ (OVD).
Keep in mind, cash withdrawals or fund transfers from the wallet are not allowed under Limited KYC.
Full KYC
Once you complete the full KYC process, your wallet limit increases to ₹1,00,000. While ICICI’s full-KYC limit is slightly lower than the ₹2,00,000 offered by some banks like SBI or HDFC, it still provides enough flexibility for regular users.
Documents accepted for Full KYC (Individual Customers):
- Aadhaar Card
- PAN Card
- NREGA Job Card
- Driving Licence
- Passport
- Application Form
Documents needed for ICICI FAStag application
When you apply for an ICICI FASTag, you’ll need to submit a few essential documents, depending on the KYC type you choose.
1. Vehicle Documents:
Provide a valid Registration Certificate (RC) of your vehicle.
2. KYC Documents:
Submit identity and address proof, such as your PAN Card, Passport, or Driving Licence.
3. Photograph:
Attach a recent passport-size photograph of the vehicle owner.
Note: All documents must be in the vehicle owner’s name. Your FASTag will be activated only after ICICI Bank verifies your identity and confirms the submitted documents.

Should you link ICICI FASTag to Your Bank Account?
When you buy a FASTag, you can recharge it using Internet Banking, a prepaid wallet, or even your Credit or Debit Card. But linking it directly to your bank account makes the process far more convenient.
Once linked, toll charges are automatically deducted from your account every time you drive through a toll plaza. You won’t have to worry about topping up your FASTag balance manually or keeping track of recharges, as the payments happen seamlessly in the background, ensuring uninterrupted travel.
How much do you have to pay for an ICICI Fastag?
To get an ICICI FASTag, you’ll need to open a FASTag account and keep it funded so that toll payments can be deducted automatically.
A one-time joining fee of ₹100 (including GST) is charged to activate your FASTag. In addition, you’ll have to pay a refundable security deposit, which depends on your vehicle type. For example, if you own a private car, the deposit is ₹200. This amount is only used if your toll payment exceeds the available balance.
During activation, you’ll also need to maintain a threshold amount, which serves as the minimum recharge in your FASTag wallet. This ensures there’s always enough balance for toll payments. For a private car, the threshold amount is ₹200.
ICICI FASTag charges may vary depending on the class of your vehicle. As of October 2025, here’s how the issuance fee, security deposit, and minimum balance typically apply across common vehicle categories (see table below).
| Vehicle Type (Class) | Tag Cost | Security Deposit (Refundable) | Min. Balance | Total at Issuance |
| Car / Jeep / Van | ₹100 | ₹200 | ₹100 | ₹400 |
| Mini Light Commercial Vehicle | ₹100 | 200 | 100 | ₹400 |
| Light Commercial Vehicle / Mini Bus | ₹100 | 300 | 100 | ₹500 |
| Bus / Truck – 3 Axle | ₹100 | 400–500 | 100 | ₹600-₹700 |
| Bus / Truck – 2 Axle | ₹100 | 400 | 100 | ₹600 |
| Tractor / Tractor with Trailer / Truck – 4, 5, or 6 Axle | ₹100 | 500 | 100 | ₹700 |
| Truck – 7 Axle and above | ₹100 | 500 | 100 | ₹700 |

- Min. Balance: The minimum wallet balance required to activate the tag (also considered part of the initial payment).
Additional Charges
While using your ICICI FASTag, a few extra charges may apply under specific circumstances:
- Reissuance Fee: ₹100, in case your tag is lost or damaged and needs replacement.
- Convenience Fee: A small fee is applied for online recharges, depending on the payment method you choose.
- Penalty Charges: If your FASTag balance is insufficient at the toll plaza, you may face penalties or temporary blacklisting of the tag until the dues are cleared.
How to Activate Your ICICI FAStag?
Here’s a step-by-step activation process for ICICI FASTag:
- Receive the FASTag
Once you finish the application process (online or at a Point-of-Sale location), ICICI either delivers the tag to your registered address or hands it over immediately at the PoS counter.
- Affix the FASTag properly on your vehicle
- Place the tag on the inside of your car’s windscreen, preferably near or behind the rear-view mirror. Make sure the vehicle number remains clearly visible and avoid placing the tag behind metallic tints or accessories, so toll scanners can read it without issues.

- Check activation status & use
Once activation is complete, ICICI sends you an SMS or notification. From here, you’re all set, drive through the FASTag lane at any toll plaza and the toll amount will be deducted automatically.
How to Check ICICI FASTag Status:
- Portal/Email: Log in to the ICICI FASTag portal to confirm whether your tag is marked as “Active.” ICICI may also share updates over email or SMS once the activation is complete
- NETC Portal: Visit the NETC portal and enter your vehicle registration number. The portal displays all FASTags linked to that vehicle and their current status.
- Contact Support: If you still have doubts, call ICICI FASTag customer care at 1800 2100 104 (toll-free). Provide your vehicle or application details, and the support team will help you with the activation status.
If your status doesn’t update immediately, wait a few days for processing before reaching out to customer support.

Unique Features of the ICICI FAStag
Video KYC: ICICI uniquely offers video-KYC for FASTag. You can complete your KYC by a video call with an ICICI officer (verify your PAN/Aadhaar live). This online KYC avoids branch visits and is available for ICICI FASTag customers. (HDFC/ICICI generally rely on offline KYC or simple document upload.)
Amazon FASTag: The Amazon Pay co-branded FASTag is a standout: tolls debit directly from Amazon Pay balance. No other bank has this integration.
Multiple Channels: ICICI’s wide acceptance (e-Toll, Google/PhonePe, iMobile, Pockets, InstaBIZ) means you have more options to buy and recharge than some banks.
Limits: Remember the lower full‑KYC limit (₹1L) at ICICI. If you need a higher wallet cap (₹2L), ICICI/HDFC would be options instead.
Account Flexibility: Like other banks, ICICI does not automatically deactivate fully KYC’d FASTags. Unlike some complaints of sudden blocklisting (seen anecdotally online), ICICI generally only blacklist a tag if you let the balance go negative.
CUG Wallet: Corporate/group accounts (CUG) function similarly to ICICI/HDFC, with a parent wallet funding child tags. (ICICI’s portal lets you manage these transfers or set up auto top-ups.)
Customer Support: Overall, ICICI’s helpline and email support, plus WhatsApp for KYV, are robust. Users report that ICICI’s FASTag processes (updates, refunds, etc.) are comparable to ICICI/HDFC, with no unique disadvantages noted in official sources.
Common Issues and Troubleshooting
Tag Not Read / Blacklisted: If a toll plaza stops you in a FASTag lane, first check that your FASTag has sufficient balance. A tag can be blacklisted due to low balance or incorrect lane usage. Use the My FASTag app to check your tag’s status in real time: green = active, orange = low balance, red = blacklisted. If your tag is blocked or not reading, top up immediately or contact customer care. Always affix the tag as per instructions to avoid read errors.
Wrong Deduction: If you are charged incorrectly—such as the wrong toll or a double charge—raise a dispute via ICICI’s CRCF portal or customer care. ICICI will initiate a chargeback with the toll operator on your behalf.
Recharge Failures: If your recharge doesn’t reflect in your FASTag account, file a complaint immediately through ICICI’s CRCF portal. Banks may take up to 15 days to resolve the issue, though SMS or portal updates usually happen sooner.
FASTag Lane Fines: Entering a FASTag lane without an active tag can result in double tolls. Only vehicles with a valid FASTag should use these lanes. If you enter by mistake, you may need to pay extra.
In most cases, a quick top-up or a call to ICICI support resolves common FASTag issues, letting you continue your journey without interruptions.
ICICI FAStag Customer Care
If you need help or have questions, ICICI offers multiple support channels for FASTag users:
24×7 Helpline: Call 1800-2100-104 (toll-free) for FASTag support. ICICI’s customer care for FASTag is available around the clock.
Email Support: Write to etoll@icicibank.com for queries or complaints. Expect email responses in 1–2 working days.
Self-Service: The FASTag web portal allows you to raise queries, report unauthorized transactions, or request new tags. You can also transfer money between your CUG wallet and individual tags via the portal.
FAQs & Help: ICICI’s site has detailed FASTag FAQs. For fast assistance, ICICI also offers WhatsApp Banking (send “Hi” to 8640086400) to handle services like KYC upload (the same channel used to complete FASTag KYV verification).
