Electric Vehicles (EVs) are gaining popularity, and how! They’ve been at the forefront of the Auto Expo 2023 display and have car enthusiasts raving. From Tata and MG to Kia and Toyota, the automobile industry’s big names showcased their brand new EVs with utmost glitz and glamour.

Here’s a quick look into the 10 best EVs showcased at Auto Expo ‘23:

1. Maruti Suzuki EVX

Suzuki Motor Corporation launched the EVX concept electric vehicle at Auto Expo this year. It is a mid-size electric SUV designed to run on a 60 kWh battery that will give you a driving range of 550 km. This is expected to launch in India in April 2025.

Maruti has given this EV aerodynamic efficiency by reducing the drag coefficient which gives you a highly fuel efficient car. It features a horizontal hood, large wheels, and signature Maruti LED headlamps. Besides an impressive design, the brand has remained true to its promise of futuristic launches fueled by innovation and technology.

2. MG 4 EV

What Morris Garages calls an ‘honest’ car is surprisingly, highly energy efficient, spacious, and screams comfort! MG Motor India revealed the MG4 Electric at the Auto Expo 2023. This EV comes with two battery pack options, a large 64 kWh and a smaller 51 kWh battery. Despite the difference in sizes, both batteries offer a torque output of 250 Nm.

The MG4 EV comes in a rear-wheel drive configuration and has a sleek silhouette that is sure to grab eyeballs.

3. Hyundai IONIQ 5

With a competitive price of ₹44.95 lakhs for the first 500 buyers, Hyundai Motor India launched the iconic IONIQ 5 EV at this year's Auto Expo. Offering 350 Nm of torque and 214 hp of power, Hyundai claims that the IONIQ 5 comes with a driving range of 631 km and a 7.4 second acceleration to reach 100 kmph!

This much-awaited ride has been crowned the World Car of the Year at the 2022 World Car Awards, the World Car Design of the Year, and the World Electric Vehicle of the Year!

4. Hyundai IONIQ 6

Built on Hyundai’s E-GMP architecture, this sedan EV has aesthetic curves and an aerodynamic front design that minimises air resistance, leading to a smooth and dynamic drive. It comes with two battery packs: a big 77 kWh unit and a smaller 53 kWh unit.

With Hyundai’s promise of innovative sustainability, the Ioniq 6 is designed to offer users quicker charging, easier handling, and a higher driving range.

5. BYD Seal EV

BYD India launched the Seal EV concept at this year’s expo. This EV is set to launch in the market by the end of 2023. The Seal EV features a sleek, aerodynamic body and has a 0.219 cd drag coefficient that increases fuel efficiency and enhances other performance characteristics such as handling and acceleration.

This BYD EV is designed to rival the likes of Tesla and prides itself on its trademark rotating display available in its infotainment system.

6. Tata Sierra EV

Tata Motors has re-invented the brand and added a host of exciting cars to its portfolio. One of the most exciting being the futuristic Sierra EV that was launched at Auto Expo 2023. It sports sleek LED headlamps, dual tone bumpers, and a bonnet featuring LED DRL. The Tata Sierra EV is set to launch in 2025 and will come in both EV (electric) and ICE (petrol) options.

For those that prefer minimalistic designs, the two-tone interior is sure to impress potential customers.

7. Tata Harrier EV

Alongside the majestic Sierra EV, Tata Motors also showcased the Tata Harrier EV. Sporting the latest Tata technology and luxury interiors, this EV looks fit to launch and will arrive in the Indian market in 2025.

The Sierra EV is backed by the OMEGA Architecture built in collaboration with the iconic Jaguar Land Rover and promises exemplary design and performance. This EV is an all-wheel drive setup with dual-electric motors. It is expected to launch with an 80 kWh battery pack and a driving range of 500 km.

8. Kia EV9

Kia India with its dynamic brand ideology, launched the EV9 SUV concept at Auto Expo 2023. The EV9 is expected to have a driving range of 450 km powered by a 77.4 kWh battery pack. This is a great option for families that use their car to run everyday errands and occasional road trips.

Featuring a solar panel in the hood, sustainable interior, a 27-inch wide infotainment display, the EV9 SUV comes with a large wheelbase of 3,100 mm and a minimalistic exterior design that ensures comfort, luxury, and entertainment.

9. BYD Atto 3 Limited Edition

Chinese maker BYD revealed its Atto 3 electric SUV concept at the Expo. There will be just 1200 units of the limited edition forest green colour.

The BYD Atto 3 has several ADAS functions that ranks it high on the safety scale. It also has a 480 km NEDC-certified range and a 521 km ARAI test range which ensures an energy efficient drive. The brand also offers a 1.6 lakh kilometre warranty for the motor and controller.

10. Toyota bZ4X EV

Toyota launched the bZ4X electric SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. This features an impressive driving range of 559 km and is all set to compete with rivals Kia and Hyundai in the EV market.

The bZ4X boasts that several parts like the door panels and the dashboard are made from plant-based materials making them ecologically sustainable. 

Toyota boasts an 80 percent charge in less than an hour at 100 kW for all-wheel drive variants with a year of free charging for all its buyers at designated EVgo areas.
