Currently, in its third generation, the XUV500 has undergone many changes since its introduction, notably the addition of AT (Automatic) and AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) variant. The all-wheel drive system is only available in the top end variant. The Mahindra XUV500 comes with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 140 BHP with 330 Nm of torque, the car is available with a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional automatic gearbox.

The Mahindra XUV 500 is seven-seater SUV with ample boot space and offers comfortable legroom in the front and mid-row while the last row could be cramped for tall adults. According to the ARAI rating, the XUV500 offers mileage in the range of 13.6kmpl in the automatic variant while the manual offers 16kmpl.  The regular maintenance and service cost of the Mahindra XUV500 will not cost you more than Rs.12500 to Rs.15000 for 1 year.

The SUV that changed the fortune for Mahindra & Mahindra in the Global automotive industry. Launched in 2002, the Scorpio is currently in its fourth generation. Over the years the Scorpio has evolved offering the latest technology with updated features to its customers.

The Scorpio comes with a 2.2 Litre mHawk diesel engine that churns out 120 BHP of with 280 Nm of torque with a manual gearbox and an optional automatic gearbox. The Ecosport is available with 3 engine options, a 1.5-litre petrol that produces 120 BHP with 149 Nm of torque, a 1.5-litre diesel that produced 99 BHP with 215 Nm of Torque, and a 1.0-litre Ecoboost that churns out 121 BHP with 150 Nm of torque. The SUV is fuel-efficient with mileage in range of 14.7 kmpl to 21.7 kmpl. The manual diesel Ecosport gives a mileage of 21.7 kmpl while the manual petrol variant offers 15.9 kmpl.

The SUV was specially designed to tackle any kind of terrain and it perfectly does the job of getting you anywhere with accessibility, be it in the mountains, rugged terrains, river crossings, etc. As for the features, the SUV comes with Air conditioning, power steering, and a digital speedometer ( later models).

Mahindra Thar came with a CRDe and a Di engine, while the latter cost less but the most preferred would the Thar CRDe. The SUV comes in both 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive variants with Manual gearbox and selector for 4 wheel high or low depending on the terrain. The Thar is sold as a 6 seater but in reality, it can carry a lot more than that due to the seating position, the rear seats are side-facing unlike the rest of cars where front-facing seats are standard. The mileage of the Thar is about 16.55 kmpl and the regular service cost for a year will be in the range of Rs 8000 to Rs 10000 per year.

Mahindra is expected to launch the 2020 Edition of Thar in August which is likely to cost Rs 10 Lakhs (ex-showroom). One can buy a good condition second hand Thar for less than 5 lakhs, some might also come with additional accessories and mods like a hardtop.
