Why a used Kia Sonet in India is a Smart Choice

With its modern design, feature-rich interiors, and a wide range of engine options, the Kia Sonet has quickly become a favourite in the Indian compact SUV market. Here’s why a used Sonet in India continues to be an excellent option for buyers:

Turbocharged Performance in a Compact Body

One of the biggest reasons the Sonet stands out is its 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that delivers punchy performance with 118 BHP of power and a peppy 172 Nm of torque. It also offers options like the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and the frugal 1.5L diesel, making it suitable for different types of drivers, whether you're a mileage seeker or someone who enjoys spirited drives. The availability of iMT (clutchless manual) and 7-speed DCT automatic transmissions only adds to the fun and convenience.

SUV Looks, Hatchback Size

From the outside, the Sonet looks like a full-blown SUV, thanks to its upright stance, tiger-nose grille, aggressive bumpers, and signature heartbeat LED DRLs. But because it’s under 4 metres, it’s relatively easier to park and drive in the city than most SUVs. This balance of form and function makes it incredibly appealing in the used car space.

Class-Leading Features That Still Feel New

Even 3–4 years after launch, the Sonet’s feature list still competes with many new cars today. Top trims come equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, connected car tech, sunroof, and ambient lighting. Even mid-variants often pack reverse cameras, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, cruise control, and automatic climate control, giving used car buyers plenty of value.

Diesel Automatic Option - A Rare Find in This Segment

One of the biggest highlights of the Sonet range is the diesel automatic variant, a 1.5L CRDi engine paired with a smooth 6-speed torque converter. It’s not something you’ll find in most subcompact SUVs, and for highway cruising or those looking for good torque in an efficient automatic, this is a gem in the used car market. With used Kia Sonet prices in India being so affordable, no wonders its such a popular choice.

Strong Safety Credentials

Depending on the variant, the Sonet offered up to 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist, rear parking sensors and even brake assist. The Sonet is also built on the same platform as the Hyundai Venue (Hyundai-Kia K2), which has proven its mettle in safety and durability over the years.

Smart Cabin Design with Premium Touches

Despite its compact size, the Sonet makes smart use of space. The rear seats are comfortable enough for two adults, while the boot offers 392 litres of usable space, which is more than enough for commutes or trips. The quality of plastics and the design layout feel premium, especially when compared to other sub-4m rivals.

3 Engine and Transmission Options

The Sonet’s wide range of engines means there’s something for every kind of driver:

• 1.2L Petrol (82 bhp, 115 Nm): Paired with a 5-speed manual, it’s great for daily city driving and smooth highway cruising.
• 1.0L Turbo-Petrol (118 bhp, 172 Nm): Available with a 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT, this one’s for those who enjoy quick acceleration and the convenience of an automatic.
• 1.5L Diesel (100-115 bhp, 240-250 Nm): Offered with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic options, it delivers strong torque and excellent fuel economy, perfect for long trips and highway drives.
