If you’re a car enthusiast, it might just be the best time of the year for you! The most popular automobile event in India, the Auto Expo, is all set to host a glorious 16th edition from 11th to 18th January, 2023.

Last held in 2020, the Auto Expo is now scheduled to be held each odd year aligned with the International Organisation of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers’ Global Auto Show Calendar.

What am I signing up for?

Auto Expo 2023 focuses on two main themes: 'TECHNOVATION—Global Platform for Technologies and Innovation’ and the ‘Future of Mobility’. Electric vehicle concepts and alternate fuel-based vehicles are going to be a major highlight at the automotive show.

Some of the biggest automobile companies that include Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Tata Motors, Hyundai, MG Motors, and Toyota are all set to unveil new concepts, cars, and cutting-edge technology at the event.

In the two-wheeler segment, Benelli and Ultraviolette are among the companies that will launch their products at the Expo. Bengaluru-based brand Ultraviolette Automotive recently launched F77, India’s fastest electric motorcycle. They plan to unveil its electric motorcycle concept at the event. Benelli is set to launch the SR250 at the 2023 Auto Expo.

When is Auto Expo 2023 being held?

The Auto Expo 2023 is being held from 13th-18th January, 2023 for the general public. It is a ticketed event which you can buy on BookMyShow. Here’s how they’re priced:

  • 11 and 12 January, 2023 (Only for the media)
  • 13 January, 2023 (Business Day): ₹750
  • 14-15 January, 2023 (General Days): ₹475
  • 16-18 January, 2023 (General Days): ₹350

Children below the age of 5 and people who need a wheelchair, do not need to buy a ticket.

The event begins on 11th January and ticket holders can enjoy the show from 11 am to 7 pm on the 13th, 16th and 17th while the remaining two days (14th and 15th) are scheduled to go on till 8 pm.

What shouldn’t you carry?

Pets, skate boards, weapons, roller skates, outside food and beverages, inflammable objects, drugs and alcohol, laser pointers, etc. are among some of the prohibited items. Designated smoking zones are demarcated at the venue.

How do I visit the Expo?

Auto Expo 2023 is being held at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

New to the National Capital Region? Here are directions to reach the motor show:

  1. Board the Delhi Metro to the Knowledge Park II Metro Station. The venue is about 500 m from the exit gate of the station.
  2. If you’re driving down, be sure to take the Greater Noida Expressway. Most importantly, try reaching early as there is limited parking available for the first 8,000 cars. (Entry Gates open post 10 am IST daily)
  3. You will find 3 gates at the India Expo Mart which expand into 14 halls along with outdoor showcase areas and food courts.

What can I expect at the Expo?

You can expect a bunch of cool, new launches such as Maruti’s brand-new concept for an electric SUV along with the unveiling of two new cars. Bollywood icon Shahrukh Khan is also expected to arrive for Hyundai’s electric SUV launch.

Other entries to the electric vehicle market are Kia Motors and MG Motors as they prepare to exhibit their electric car concepts. Tata Motors will reveal its EVs that are set to launch later this year.

The launch lineup will include the next-gen Kia Carnival, the 5-door Suzuki Jimny, the MG Air EV, the Hyundai Ioniq5, and the Tata Punch EV. Interestingly, an ethanol pavilion will display technological advancements across the ethanol value chain including flex-fuel vehicle prototypes.

In the luxury space, you can look forward to Lexus’ RX SUV that would be nothing short of stunning. Liger Mobility’s self-balancing scooter, a first in the category, is something that you must not miss.
